This can be our thread to bitch about how shit most Australian music is.
That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
Australian music is better than music in most other countries, there is such a diverse range here. Personally I cannot stand most American music, and 99.% of the music that I listen to is Australian. So what if our bands aren't popular overseas? That doesn't mean a thing.
Sure most bands would be happy if they were successfull overseas as well as in Australia, but most of them are in the industry because they love it, not for the fame and success.
Also, if all you are going to do is "bitch about how shit most Australian music is", how do you expect the Australian industry to get better? It needs support, and if all people do is bitch and moan about how terrible it is, then it isn't going to get better- the whole industry will collapse if people don't support it.
Honestly, you sound like a complete music snob. Maybe you should listen to more Australian music, and you might realise just how talented Aussie artists are. |

But they haven't released anything for a while. No. You just like mainstream. |

When I say we only have a few well known bands, I mean bands that the entire of Australia know.
You'll find that most Aussies who are into mainstream music would only know Grinspoon, Wolfmother and TLE.
Oh, and maybe The Veronicas.
I know that's the case with most people I know into mainstream music. |

No. Not just one single sentence.
You say that Australia doesn't have many good bands and you list the ones you like.
The ones you like are all mainstream.
Yeah. Doesn't mean they're shit or anything.
But then you go to say that there aren't many good Australian bands?
Perhaps it's because people like you don't support them so they are sent packing overseas in search of fame over there.
Yeah. I'm laughing.

I know that's the case with most people I know into mainstream music. Oh bullshit.
Smash Hits magazine- yeah, that magazine that markets the veronicas like they're hot lusty sex- are telling their readers to check Grinspoon out if they like 'rock' music.
Yet more people have heard of them than the veronicas.
And you don't know Silverchair, You Am I, AC/DC, Midnight Oil, The Easybeats, Spiderbait, Kisschasy, Jet and The Vines?
Bands who have hit it big overseas?
And isn't this whole topic about little bands who 'probably aren't popular enough for an own thread'?
You're contradicting yourself. |
