what sucks is that there are so many great aussie band out there that are not getting the recognition they deserve.
and dont know whether ive mentioned these guys/girl before but Mz Ann Thropik are awesome. kind of goth rock but not...cool as fuck though. |

Age: 36 Gender: Female Posts: 2281 | February 17th, 2008 at 06:41pm As much as I'd love to see a lot of the local bands get big and I wish them all the success in the world as they clearly deserve it, there's a part of me that wants them to stay local. I'm selfish, I want them as mine and I want the gigs to stay intimate. Mammal for instance could be huge, but I don't like watching them from behind a barrier like at Pyramid. I love the little clubs and when Zeke decides to jump on some random table in the middle of the room and sing from there.
To be somewhat tangential, saw The Living End yesterday. Scored the setlist. Cept they didn't play She's Calling Out. Instead they played What's On Your Radio? and West End Riot. I can't wait for the album. How Do We Know is the greatest song ever. We have a couple recordings of it, but out of respect to the band we're not putting it up on YouTube until after the album is released.
They're one band that definitely doesn't get enough recognition. I mean, they get air time, but none of the accolades they deserve. |

I'd only heard of them before Grinspoon, and I'm regretting not checking them out earlier!
I'm having trouble finding their album though, which sucks. Could be because I completely forgot to look under 'MM9', and only looked in the 'Ma...' section haha.

Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 503 | March 21st, 2008 at 02:13am i dont know if you guys have heard of envy parade; they're a small band from Sydney.
a few hours ago they posted this bulletin on myspace:
as the bulletin says, they're trying to reach 50000 plays by the 25th of march [Ty's (lead singer) birthday].
so it woud be fantastic if you guys could check them out,
myspace.com/envyparade
and if you like them, or even if you dont,
just for the next four days, add one of their songs to your profile.
it would mean ALOT to me, and just as much to envy parade.
thanks in advance. |

Age: 36 Gender: Female Posts: 2281 | March 31st, 2008 at 01:03am Mammal's tour diary as KISS supports.
They make me laugh so much. "You upstaged KISS?" "Ohhh, lets not go that far." "Yeaaaah. Come on. Maybe just a little." xD
But my favourite bit. Zeke: "I cut KISS off. They're not on my Christmas card list anymore." xDDD
I love seeing favourite bands goof off. |

I realised the other day that I have actually seen Mammal live xD
I'm so slow.
I think they might be going to Come Together as well, so I'll definately go see them if they are.
But I'm probably getting confused with last years Come Together xD

Age: 36 Gender: Female Posts: 2281 | March 31st, 2008 at 01:49am They are on Come Together. The same day as TLE, which I think was the Sunday? Made me want to go haha. They were also on it last year. Was that where you saw them?
They're playing Peninsula Lounge this Friday. I wanna gooo. I haven't seen them for a whole 2 weeks. xD
Their album is on sale through their online store, and they haven't even recorded it yet. Lulz. |
