I was raised as a Seventh-Day Adventist, which most people in the world view as some sort of cult. Growing up in a world full of Adventists, I saw that way too many placed too much emphasis on the church's traditions and religious structure. I saw my friends, some of the best people on earth get ostracized and criticized for petty little mistakes they made. It disgusted me.

So I, personally, do not agree with religions today. I think there is too much focus on religion and not enough on spirituality. I am a very spiritual person. I think there is a higher power somewhere, and I don't think He/She can be contained in one little church.

^I'm not offended, and I don't mind explaining. Seventh-Day Adventism (SDA) is a religion that is like Judaism in the fact that we/they believe that the Sabbath is the seventh day, Saturday. We believe in the Trinity (Father/Son/Holy Spirit). We have 28 Fundamental Beliefs, so a lot of the church is doctrine, particularly that of our prophet, Ellen White. We believe that once a person dies, they are dead until the second coming of Christ; the soul does not go to the afterlife right away. It is a very conservative church for the most part.

That's what we believe in a nutshell. I'm not a particularly good Adventist. I was raised like that but I don't really go to church or follow their doctrines (they tell us not to drink caffeine!). If you want to know more you can PM me (I don't want to spam up this thread).

I'm raised Catholic in a very catholic based family.

We go to church every Sunday and I go to a Catholic school.

I'm also part of a Catholic camp with some of my friends.

Many of you are probably thinking..wow.

I'm not a religoin maniac, dont worry.

I also doubt many things in the bible, just like some of you.

I have to agree, some things in there seem sort of far-fetched.

Yeah, the people were convinced by a person that he was the
reincarnation of Jesus, and that to follow him and the Lord, they had to kill themselves,
and that once "dead" on earth, their bodies would materialize onto
the mothership and they and the messiah would go to the promise land.

If I have my facts right.

That is not religion though, that is a cult and fanaticism.
It's what seperates the ones with faith from the fanatics.

Okay here's my view
I am a Jewish girl. I was born Jewish, I was raised Jewish and im most likely going to die Jewish. (If your curious about some aspects please PM me about it to prevent spam).
There is some things in the Torah I do believe and there is some aspects which I don't. I do believe there is a messiah but I do not believe the messiah was in fact Jesus. I believe the messiah is somewhere I just don't know.

Although I value my religion deeply there is some values and traditions to the judiac religion I don't understand.

Whats wrong with tattoos?
Why aren't women treated equal IE sit in the back of the room at services if you're orthodox?
And If I do say sorry on Yom Kippur why do I still suffer?

I feel with all beliefs no mater what you are there are some things we don't understand. Even if you're are told a million times it's true you are still left dumbfolded and curious. Religion is just the mystery of life that not everyone understands

Right. What's wrong with tattoos? We're being taught that by tattooing yourself, you are vandalizing the "temple of the Holy Spirit" (aka your body). I don't believe in that bull either.

And what's Yorn Kippur?

*steals Jewish spotlight*

Yom Kippur is one of the holiest holidays in Judaism. It's the Day of Atonement, and you're supposed to fast and go to temple. Beforehand, you're supposed to apologize to everyone you've wronged and end all fights, which cleanses your spirit and should basically fix your life. It's a bit like going to confession in Christianity.

(sorry, it's just something I know about, and right now I'd much rather explain Jewish holidays than be productive =] )

Ahhh okay. Well, if you say sorry, it doesn't wipe away your sins like a magic eraser. You have to do something to atone for your sins ie. replace the thing you lost. Or whatever.

See this is where I differ from most people on here. I was raised by a catholic father and my mom's pretty much an athiest. My sister is Anglican, and I'm neopagan. Our family is very diverse in what we choose to believe, but the point is that we are free to choose what we believe. I never was forced to go to church, nor was I forced to stay home, or observe holidays. Families nowadays, or at least the ones I've seen, are becoming more tolerant of all religions.

I was born, and I am raised in a Catholic/Christian family. I have always had beliefs shoved down my throat, and was never able to think for my own. My grandma would always drag me to church, telling me it was wrong if I didn't go. My mother and father, on the other hand, it didn't matter to them whether I went or not. I have never studied the whole Bible, but I have read "Genesis".

In the summer after sixth grade, I guess you could say it was the period in which I "grew up". I took a vacation to New York, and during that time, I thought things out, and questioned everything that people said. I figured myself out during then. I changed in a huge way, from wearing different clothing to having different beliefs.

My mom isn't even a Catholic/Christian. She practices Shamanism, which I find quite amazing. But for me, it just quite isn't working out. So, you can call me an Agnostic. I just can't see any way of believing if God exists or not. You find out when you die, end of story.

But, of course, that's just me.

I was also raised heavily into christianity... in grade nine though i learned wicca, in grade 10 BECAME wiccan, and now in grade 12 am a druid... I'm starting to realize though that religion isn't important to me... its more my spirituality...
You can be spiritual and not religious, but not religious without spirituality...

Well, they say that God created you in the image of himself and because of this, you are a representative of God.

I like the idea of god, it seems that there are so many people out there that were raised christain and turned out pretty good.
I wish I could beleive, I think I would be a better person.
But I just can't now, Im too "sciency" everything has to be proved to me else my brain won't make sence of it.
If someone told me that 1+1=2, I wouldnt be able to understand it until they explained to me what 1 means, what + means and what = means.
In the case of god, I really need evidence that it exists before I can begin to believe.
I dont know very much about what else christians beleive, but most of what i do know I dont agree with, because Its been proved wrong, or hasnt been proved right.

I went to a C.E primary school (church of england)
So i had to go to church on certain days, Sing hymns and pray.
I believe that there is a god and a jesus
and i believe that there is a heaven and hell.
But i am more of a follower of satan, not a strong one, but out of all of the religions that one matches my feelings, I strongly believe that there is a satan, more than i believe in god. But i believe in them because there has to be an oposite of evil, and because satan is a fallen angel. (I dont mean to shove my religions down your throat so sorry if it comes across that way)
