Okay so I'm not proud of this, but in a way I'm christian and in another way I'm not. I had the whole confimation thing in church and all, I had the huge party, got all the gifts and money...but I don't beileve in God. I respect the people who do, but I don't I think it's too hard to believe. So, Im sorta a fake-christian. Yeah, it's not good. But when I turn 18, and write myself out of the state church. I think religion is very interesting, and I also adore people who stand up for what they believe in even if they stand alone. But the whole 'God created the earth in 7 days thing' and 'Jesus made wine out of water, and he even walked on the water' 'and jesus is coming back to save us all' God is watching over us'... I'm just not buying it. It's nice to have hope, but I would'nt personally call myself a religious person. But we're all different, and I totally respect other peoples point of view.

And I don't think that telling people they are going to Hell for not having the same beliefs as you is actually respecting the fact that they do have different beliefs than you...

yeah i think what i've said was too much... if it hit some people too hard, i'm sorry, it's nothing personal... but i'm a very religious person, and if you want me to respect their kind of belief, they must respect the way i believe too... if you were able to read what they've said about God and everything i don't know, but it made me really sick to my bones... this will be the last time i'll be posting here, i really get carried away when it comes to religion...

Im very undecided on Christianity as a religon. My family are Christians, but its not like we o to church every day, only on easter and Xmas etc.

I do not believe in a god that says live by my rules, otherwise burn in hell. It just isnt how I view a god. If God is so forgiving then why does he say Follow my rules, if you dont then your going to hell. Why would he do that?
I thought god was loving, and apperantly at the apocolypse a third of man kind will go to hell?
I do not think People should be afraid of this, but yet people have gone to church just to avoid going to hell, not actually believeing in god.

I do not mean to be rude to Christians out there, and I know that there are other aspects or christianity which are truly beautiful, just this part I do not agree with. I respect Christians beliefs, dont get me wrong, this is just my perosnal opnion.

It comes down to what Torosauras said, and I'd like to add on with a question. If you were to come across a man who has been mugged and beaten, for instance, and you drive him to the Emergency Room, and offer to pick up the bill because he is homeless. Now, the question is, did you perform this act of kindness because it was the right thing to do, or did you do it because you will be rewarded for it in the afterlife? This isn't meant to offend, only to make you think. If there was no threat of eternal damnation, or promise of a reward, would you even stop to pick this man up? And this goes for any religious belief, not just Christianity.

^^ Exactely

If you picked up a special watch and returned it to the office, was it because it was the right thing to do, or because of the fear that god might have seen you take it?

I think I have already answered in here, but to discuss what Torosauras and xXDrop.The.DaggerXx are talking about. I really agree. I don't think one's motives behind acts of kindness should be because it would be the thing God wanted us to do. They should do them because as human beings, we have to know when to do the right thing simply out of the kindness of our hearts. People are motivated to do things for themselves instead of others. It's part of our nature. The thing I am getting at is this: The man who doesn't believe in God, but does good things out of the kindness of his heart - does he just go to hell? Is he looked down upon over the man who does good things only because he thinks it'll put him at a good place with God?

I am a Christian myself, but like others, I question things like this. It doesn't make sense. I'd like to hear from someone else on this.

My family are Buddists but in some way I'm Athiest. I always respected the values and faith of people of different religions. One girl in my old school said to me, "You're going to hell because you don't believe in God but I'm not because I believe in him" This statement really made me think. Does being a bad Christian still means they are going to heaven and people who believe in other religions are going to hell no matter how good they are? Its alright to believe in any religion as long people don't critisize each other saying things like, "My religion's right, yours is wrong." because that is being intolerant. I don't believe in the afterlife (Things like hell and heaven) and I personally think that I shouldn't worry about whats going to happen to me after death because what I should worry about are my actions in life. Please forgive me if this sounded offensive in anyway but don't you think that the thing about hell is just basicly putting a lot of fear in people? and in most cases, extreme fear can lead to anger and start up all sorts of mess. And again, I'm sorry if this question is offensive to anyone on this forum.

This is an incredibly valid point. Does God value good christians over good people? If a man goes to church every Sunday, prays, observes all traditions and customs, and donates to the church out of the fear of hell more likely to go to Heaven than the Neo-pagan that adopts a homeless child from China, volunteers at a soup kitchen and buys clothes for the homeless just because it is an opportunity to help someone?

In my opinion, "God" wouldn't be so exclusive as to only "save" people from one religion. If this Higher Power is as caring, kind, loving, and generous as Christians and other religions swear he/she is, then I don't think he/she will exclude people from his/her love because of a few differences.

Not trying to be smart or anything, but...

What's the point of a thread like this?

I could care less if anyone here was an athiest, etc. I'm not going to try to convert you, because it's not my place.

There's nothing I could learn here from knowing that you don't like God because he's mean to you, or anything.

Is there a point? (answer please :/)

I personally am a Christian..and proud of it. I was raised believing in God..but I never went to church because my parents never made me...or took me for that matter. I eventually talked them into taking me when i was about 12..but after a while i stopped going. My friend got me to start going again when i was 15...and now I still go.

I use to hate..AND STILL HATE..."christians" that feel the need to shove their religion down everyone's throat and condemn them theirselves. I think the way you get into Heaven is if you believe in God and never deny Him...but also live the "christian lifestyle" (don't lie..don't kill..don't steal..honor your mom and dad.......so on and so forth). I personally can't follow all those...and I have yet to meet a person who can.

I don't think people should say..o well you don't believe in God so you're going to Hell. Yea I believe that you won't go to Heaven if you don't believe...but if you're going to tell someone that...chances are they may not even consider believing.

I won't ever shove my beliefs down anyone's throat...if they have questions or want to talk..I'll be glad to share what I know and believe..but only that and then.

Also some people don't want to believe in God because they think they have to give up their whole entire lifestyle..can't listen to music that's not considered..."good" (mcr..no offense)..they have to generally be "goody goodies".
I don't think that's true. I'm a christian..yet i cuss (oops)..i listen to mcr all the time..i occasionally smoke (which isn't good for me)...but I go to church and I believe in God and I know I'll be fine because I love God and I don't deny Him and I'm not out there killing people..or stealing...or having affairs or stuff.
^^ It may have sounded like i contradicted myself a bit..but it's hard to explain religion and beliefs..honestly! It all makes sense in my head... Mr. Green

Actually, you have to do two things to be considered a true Christian:
Accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior and repent.
That means try not to do things that are sinful.
If you slip up, then you're supposed to ask Jesus to forgive you.
If you're Catholic, you're supposed to ask a priest to forgive you.

My religion is Bad Christian.
I'm gay, I cuss, I don't go to church, and I think God's a something something.
I'm a Bad Christian because I believe, but I don't like what the religion has come to stand for in modern times.
If the religion was what it's suppose to be then I probably wouldn't be a Bad Christian.

I think that truthfully, Christianity is a wide-ranged religion. Because when you think about it, Jesus said he loves everyone. If God created everyone, he created gay people, he created people who grow up racist, he created people who choose to deny him.
If God is truly the superior being, then it's almost ridiculous for "followers" to claim certain people have no right to Heaven, except for those who are truly bad and undeserving.

You know, there's one form of Christianity where in the end they believe everyone will be saved and go to Heaven, including Satan.

I like that one.

I also like Quakers. If I were a pacifist, I'd totally be a Quaker.

I think that as long as you try to do good things and you're not some serial killer, you'll probably be "saved", if you believe in all of that.
