i do think his voice occasionally gets lost during live shows abit, esp in huuge stadiums, & sounds a bit thin when its near the end of the concert & they're tired. some voices r just not --& i mean technically spkng, dun kill me -- 100% good for live shows.
But his awesome charisma & humorous random acts more than make up for it ;D
hvg said that, he does really well on songs that have loads of room for melodic improvisation e.g. Prison, Venom, & Mama too |

Age: 45 Gender: Female Posts: 291 | April 13th, 2008 at 09:49am Gerards voice does its job pretty well, it is the sound of MCR and thus, like the guitars, bass and drums perfect for the band. I wouldnt change a thing. But I do agree on some live shows his voice does fade a bit, but it may be that he is overstraining it on so many tours and shows all the time - he needs to rest a bit.
Plus MCR songs are not that easy to do vocally....... |

I Bought You My Bullets You Bought Me Your Rasins?
I think they were trying to spell out the first album and had a typo.
If anything, he can still sing Umbrella better than Rhianna can. |

Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 834 | April 17th, 2008 at 03:12pm I think that he should give up smoking so his voice doesn't get screwed up anymore...if he did it would sound even better. since a lot of people were saying that smoking is screwing up his voice. |

Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 2257 | May 21st, 2008 at 02:58am Well Ville Valo smokes, claiming it helps keep his voice the way it is
And just recently I was told he's dying from cancer & can't hit his own high notes in live shows
So yeah, it probably isn't helping
Gerard's voice has changed quite a lot though...it used to seem a bit stronger |

Age: 29 Gender: Female Posts: 22924 | May 26th, 2008 at 04:48pm I think its changed quite a bit. eve tohugh he's not blonde anymore I can't see him singing stuff off bullets with blonde hair. it could be the look but I just don't think he sounds like that anymore. Some of the change is good and some not so good. I mean in desert song when he says morg he's got kind of a roughness to his voice I would sya that I really like and I don't think he sounds like that anymore. or just doesn't sing that way I'm not sure. |

Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 2601 | June 23rd, 2008 at 06:58am frm a strictly objective point of view Gerard's is not the strongest voice in rock -- in fact occasionally, it doesn't carry well in large stadiums. and he tends to sound a bit exhausted after a while. but it's definitely outstanding in that it's got a lovely rawness to it which suits their music anyway. the rawness is especially lovely in parts like the end of Monroeville, and midway thru Desert. it just gives every song a natural sincerity.
altho if he lacks anything in the vocal department, his mindblowing song-writing skills more than make up for it. =) |

misery and harmony Salute You in Your Grave
Age: 29 Gender: Female Posts: 3287 | June 23rd, 2008 at 09:44am One of the reasons that he sounds different on TBP than Bullets is that he doesn't scream-sing anymore..if you understand what I mean. His voice has become more beautiful. |

Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 13251 | June 23rd, 2008 at 09:51am He sounds extremely young in the Bullets album.
Bullets was the last album I came across after discovering MCR, and I was completely shocked at how different he sounded.
His voice has matured a great deal, and over the years it is easy to see what new levels he has reached with his voice, and how much improvement overall he has made. |
