Prostitution

Many feel it would be a wise decision to legalize it for the reasons that it may make it safer and easier to control, but at the same time there are numerous people who are against the legalization. In many other countries as The Netherlands, prostitution is legal, and it seems it is very well taken care of. Also in some cities like Las Vegas it is legal. But just because some thing is legal does not make it morally right or safe.

Do you think prostitution should be legal? Why or why not?

I think it shouldn't. In Honduras (where I live) it is illegal, they don't have much control over it, but if catch them, they do something about it, and that makes people don't want to give themselves to prostitution. I think there are better ways to make money rather than sex.

It's very dangerous. You don't know the person' background , you don't know if they have an STI or if you will get pregnant with their child. Are they violent? Would they beat you or kill you if you refused to do something for them? You can't be sure.
There are so many better, safer ways of getting money.
It doesn't matter how well-looked after it is or how much the government tries to protect the people who are selling themselves (basically), there is no way of checking everyone's background. How are you supposed to know everything about everyone in the country who uses the prostitution services? You can't.
Therefore how do you know who may put these vulnerable and often very young girls in danger?

I'm all for legal prostitution, as long as the women are of age and it's of 100% free will. Also, they should have to get tested like.. once a week or something.

I'm really agaisnt it, I don't think any woman should ever sell them selves to other men or woman. This is not coming from a woman but I still would never do that in a million years. They shouldn't make it illage because woman and men should know not to sell them selves. Mabey some people need esscorts on speical occasines, but think of what can happen AIDS a big problem in most countires. Some people like older people wont Prostitue because they a horrifid of doing it, but then they make their children do it, its called trafeking when I was watching Opera the other day it showed videos of old men buying Yound kids. Most of the men were from America these men would take these kids and rape them torchure them. They would use them to do their dirty work like sell drugs. Sell themselves for money to give them to thier slave driver. Its very sad what people will do for money. I think that children that get pushed into prostuiton should be taken away into another family and they do put the parents in jail, but they should put them in jail for a long time not just 1 week sentences, in the court rooms once a man was getting sewed for lewering young boys into prostituion he bribed the judge with $50.00 and the judge took his bride and set him free that man is still doing that today. They haven't caught him, but if they do he should be killed toutcherd like what he did to those children. They had interviewed this man once and he lied about everything and they knew, but they did nothing. They just let him go afterwards. Its pretty stupid. I hope stuff like this won't happen in the future.

As long as theres a market, there'll be a supplier.

The idea of it being legalised makes sense for safety reasons, but at the same time its like the government saying "this is ok". When really, no one should ever have to do that for money. I think laws should crack down on punters, not the girls doing it. They've gotta be pretty desperate.

What kind of risk?

It's illegal where i live, but theres a well-known red light district nearby. theres police cameras and everything but they dont do enough to stop it. i mean, fair enough either legalise it or dont, but if your going to not allow it they should do more to acctually stop it happening

If it's legalized, the police would have no reason to arrest someone.
The prostitutes, I'm sure, would be checked regularily for STI's. So the risks would only be the same, pretty much, as having sex as any person who is not prostituting.

The way I see it, they're calling out for murder.

When you watch like "Cold Case Files" or some other murder show,
3 out of 10 times you'll see a girl, standing on a corner, wearing barely anything. She get's into a car, her and the driver have sex, then he beats the crap out of her and then dumps her off into god knows where. They find her the next day and she's dead.

Maybe I'm wrong.
But my opinion,
is they're setting themselves up for either murder or an STD.

Okay you can moniter them once a week to make sure they don't get and STD, but how are you going to make sure that all their clients are good people who won't beat the girls or kill them? How do you even know who the clients are? It's practically impossible to keep tabs on everyone using the prostitution services, so there probably would be a few cases of murdered/injured prostitutes.
