Who are some of the people that you look up to? Why do you look up to them? Post all of that jazz here.
And by Idols I mean someone who truely did something great. Not Gerard Way because he 'saved your life'.

Tommy Douglas

Tommy Douglas was the premier of Saskatchewan, and the father of Canadian medicare. He created the amazing medicare system that Canada has today. Thanks to Tommy, anyone can go to the doctor's office if they need to for free. Surgeries are free, doctor's appointment's are free, and so is a lot of other things that other countries' medicare do not have. Tommy was truely the greatest Canadian who ever exsisted. Apparently, other people agree with me. He won the CBC competition 'The Greatest Canadian' in first place, over fellow amazing Canadians such as Terry Fox and Pierre Elliot Trudeau.

Yeah, but you still have to buy your own effing crutches.

Sorry, just had to say that. =/

Edit: And the waiting rooms are crammed full of people with just runny noses. So when you're brother needs stitches in his head you have to wait two hours while people with colds get ahead.

That's true, but a lot of people in America die because they can't afford stitches. I think we should be greatful for the system that we have and not complaining about the bad things.

Andrew Ross McMahon.

Image

He's a very talented musician, he fronts the two rock piano-rock bands.
Something Corporate & Jack's Mannequin.
I look up to him so much.
He's from where I live, & he's made his dream come true.
I hope to do that some day.
His lyrics practically describe me, in every way.
It's like, he thinks the same things I do.
but he can just write them down more beautifully.
Also, he suffered from cancer, & got another sickness while he had that.
But he over came them both, & just recently.
Had to take the last pill to get rid of it.
& the amazing thing is, he doesn't give up.
He just keeps on going.
Even through those hard times.
He didn't give up.
I love him so much, & look to up to him more than anyone.
Rock on Andrew McMahon.

Edit: Damn.
Does that not mean I can't do Andrew?
Because he didn't really do anything to great.
But he's really the only Idol I have besides God.
I really think what he's gone through is amazing. =/

Nope. He had cancer didn't he? He struggled through a lot, and still managed to keep a positive attitude about it. I personally think that he's a great person and deserves to be idolized.

I don't think it's lame. Gerard is a good person and a good musician. It's just, this thread is for people who really have done something really amazing.

Sorry, but I'd have to say one of them is Gerard Way. No, he did not save my life, or anything like that. I'm proud of him because he recovered from an addiction.
I know alot of people have, but My Chemical Romance truely mean alot to me, so I'd say him. (I can edit this out if you don't want it there)
Terry Fox. He's helped with cancer research so, so much. And years after his death, there is still so much more money being reaised, in his name. I really believe that one day there will be a cure, and alot of it will be because of him.

They helped me get through some problems I had in my life a little while ago.
Their music really speaks to me. I can totally relate to it.

Chris Farley
He was a former cast member on Saturday Night Live and did some movies before his death.
I guess you couldnt say he did anything really specail, except he made millions smile and gave me hope.
He did have to deal with the thought that he would never be loved, a drug addiction, and over-eating, and unfortunately he passed away before he could get help.
I cant begin to explain just what Chris Farley has done for me.
Whenever I had given up hope, like when my brother was being abused and my parents were on the verge of divorce, just watching him gave me hope in a brighter future.
I dont know if this is exactly an appropriate hero/idol for this thread, but Chris Farley is my idol.

Yes, she is my mom. But I look up to her.
She has been fighting Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for 9 years.
So far, it has taken the use of her legs, decreased the use of her hands, and makes it nearly impossible for her to move around on her own volition. She is now restricted to a wheelchair and often times needs lots of help getting ready for a nap or finishing in the bathroom.
Yet still, she keeps a positive attitude, and does her best at her job...being a mom. (In fact, I personally think she did an excellent job raising us, despite her conditions.)
She is bright and cheerful everyday and I never hear a grumble from her at all.
All the while, she remains completely selfless. She ended her medication orders so we wouldn't worry about the cost of each canister. ($100 to 345mg.)

Most people, you must admit, could not have the capacity to do this.

I honor her for her this.

Kurt Donald Cobain was the leader of Nirvana, the multi-platinum grunge band that redefined the sound of the nineties.

Cobain was for most his childhood a sickly bronchitic child. Matters were made worse when Cobain's parent's divorced when he was seven and by his own account Cobain said he never felt loved or secure again. He became increasingly difficult, anti-social and withdrawn after his parent's divorce. Cobain also said that his parent's traumatic split fueled a lot of the anguish in Nirvana's music.

Why Kurt?

Because he was a great , legendary singer and guitarist.
He knew what he wanted from the beginning , he wanted to be famous.
Kurt had an impact on a lot of peoples lives.

And yes he was a drug addict.

One of the main reasons why I posted him on this thread is because he NEVER took drugs in front of his little girl.
He was so proud of her.
Kurt was a great father.
Francess changed his life.

Nirvana is one of the bands who will never die.
They are still as famous as 12 years ago.

We still don't know the mistery of Kurt Cobain , if he killed himself or got murdered.
And I guess we'll never know.

We'll always remember Kurt.

Kim Douglas.

Kim is one of my idols because she is a real woman who lives in my area and has been through a lot. She has two children but before her latest son she lost a child. This was due to a fatal asthma attack in the middle of the night. This boys name was George Coller. George Coller was only a toddler when he died in his sleep and after his death Kim made a charity called "The George Coller Memorial Fund." This fund raises money to help pay young children with asthma to get the right treatment. In 2004 the fund raised enough money to employ new nurses for a ward in Birmingham, England so that there was more care for the children. each year a fundraiser is held at a local pub in Great Barr, Birmingham to raise money and it is a great day out.
I believe that Kim should be idolized because she went to the trouble of helping children that needed her. And to me she is a hero.

Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae is my hero. He was a doctor during WW1 in the Second Battle of Ypres, Belgium (area traditionally called Flanders), where some of the heaviest fighting of the entire war took place. He is famous for writting the poem 'In Flander's Fields', after the death of his good friend, Alexis Helmer. Helmer was hit by artillery fire and McCrae and others collected the pieces of him they could find, and put them in a body shaped bag stuffed with straw. McCrae performed the ceremony and the grave was marked with a simple wooden cross, which was fence planking taken from the ever-expanding graveyard. (Helmer was listed on the Arc du Triumph as not being recovered because they technically didn't find his body)

When the hospital he served at opened its doors in February 1916, it was a 1,560-bed facility covering 26 acres. Here the wounded were brought from the Battle of the Somme, the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the third Battle of Ypres and from Arras and Passchendaele. On January 28, after an illness of five days, he died of pneumonia and meningitis. The day he fell ill, he learned he had been appointed consulting physician to the First British Army, the first and only Canadian so honoured. John McCrae was buried with full military honours in Wimereux Cemetery, not far from the fields of Flanders.

He is my hero because he represents the men and women who sacrificed so much during WW1, whether it was their lives, their health, or their effort. He made the poppy its well known symbol for remembrance, and was a good man and friend with an infectious smile.

Just for kicks, here is a picture I drew of the trenches a few years ago. Yes, I know I spelt 'Lest' wrong and the artillery gun looks like a penis, but it was too late to go back and edit it.
