College Students (or those planning to attend college)

I thought it would be interesting to have a thread for college students on here to talk about what they like and/or dislike about it and other....stuff, like their major and/or minor is and what sorts of courses their taking. And if there were people out there who are planing about going to college to talk about what they are planing on doing if or when they go.


Ok, so.. I'm a freashmen and my major is creative writing. I actually plan on transferring to a college in Florida b/c I'm moving there and I want to be close to home. I'm also thinking of transferring to a school in Albany so i can be w/ my friends, but I haven't decided yet. Courses wise, I hate my class Lit. Form and Meaning, which is weird 'cause I have a B- right now..and my favorite class at the moment has to Psycology...so yeah..

I can ramble on and on, but I want to see what everyone else thinks about their college and/or what other people think about what they want to do if or when they go to college.

I got to a college where 31 other people go. No kidding.
I have an undeclared major right now. I used to be an economics major because I'm good with economics, but I decided after one semester of college algebra I'd like a major with less math involved.
I will probably major in business with a minor in something music related because I want to own a record label one day, but I also want to own a riding stable, too, and give trail rides to annoying tourists.

Right now, I'd like to transfer to a college that is far enough away that I'm not stuck in this shithole town and one with a variety of guys my age who might be interested in dating- because no normal guys go to my school. Auburn would be my first choice, because Steven [my best friend ever, too bad he's out of my league] goes there and it's supposedly pretty cool, but the University of Alaska sounds appealing, too. Mostly, I want out of here.
This place sucks.
I also just found out that none of the Bible classes I've taken will transfer to a state school.

College is a depressing subject for me because literally every one of my friends except one has gone off to a college in another town and I'm the only one still stuck here. I have to be able to work and support myself, so I can't just be a full time student. That's a luxury I can't afford...I really feel trapped.

So anyway...

Yeah.. there's about 400 students here and about 200 are freshmen.. so yeah.. and I know what you mean about the firends thing.. I applied to Univ. At Albany, but didn't get in.. 2 of my friends are there and I want to go to be w/ them

I've only got a year left until, low and behold, I'm a freshman in college
I hope to go to SCAD of atlanta and major in illustration or cartooning
I plan to minor in music or design
But it's so expensive, geez there's going to be alot of scholarships to be done

I'm goin got the College of Staten Island for this year, but I am transfering to Rutgers University next year. I intend to do a double major of English/Creative Writing, and History. right now I am taking Math, Drama, English, and Core. I like my English and Core classes, even though they are four hours long O.O and I hate, HATE, my Drama and Math classes to the point of no return. I kind of feel over welhmed thanks to my crappy Drama teacher expecting to to see two broadway plays *he is smoking crack* and I have to do these stupid Clue workshops, which further pisses me off. Overall I don't much like CSI, so I can't wait to go to Rutgers.

I am a freshman in college, and am planning to get a major in history, minor in english and a secondary school teaching degree. Hooray for five years of college!

I haven't hear of Core..what is that?

Yeah, I have two classes that are 4 hours long and the rest are like 50 min.. but I have one on Tues and the other on Thrus.. and I have my first midterm next week and I'm soooooo not looking forward to it.. I hate versifcation! It is so hard to understand! I hate peotry so much! I could care less about crap like Iambic Pentameter! When I read the poetry my professor wanted us to read and do a paper on, I wrote about her themes, which in my opinion I think is important, but when I got my paper back, she told me to "focus on her formal style"... versifcation could go die!

pentameter?it sounds like something from The Da Vinci Code. the pentameter drawn on the body of the dead professor at the louvre...

anyway, im a medical student ,doing my M.D. im pretty much one of the youngest in my class coz most of the other students are like in their late 20s. school is always hectic and we have final exams every 3 weeks,and we have to attend a 7hour-a-day of class from mon to sat.

truth is, if i can change my major, i would.lol~

Iambic Pentameter is what shakesphere used to write his sonents and stuff.

Core: is a freshman lecture class that deals with American History and Goverment.

I'm going to Uni next year... I dunno where tho. Probably in the UK... although I'd really like to go to Australia, cos I lived in the UK before and really didn't like it. But I want to do Sound Engineering and I can't find any courses in that at Aussie Unis. They're all at training centres and my mum wants me to go to a proper Uni.

Mud, Berklee is a good school for sound engineering,but its in the states.

I live in the U.K, so I dunno.
I'm only 13, but if I want to stay at home, then it's probably Barnsley College/Sheffield Uni.
Jesus, I hope it doesn't come to that.

Hey, I dunno about Barnsley, but Sheffield isn't to be sniffed at. Nor Sheffield Hallam. They're both very good Unis well worth consideration. And there are much worse places you could end up. Take it from someone who's lived in Swindon.

I don't think my rents would ever let me go to the US... But thanks for the info and I shall look it up. You never know. Might be able to convince the mummy. (:

i'm a college freshman at a small Catholic private, liberal arts school. i'm majoring in English. right now this semester, i'm taking Age of Chaucer, Forest and Fields, World Religions, Spanish 3, and History of the French Revolution. i was taking this Computer Organization class, byt that ended a few weeks ago. my ecology class is the only one that's a pain in the butt because, even though it's my only clss on friday, the second lecture in that class for the week and the lab both fall on the same day. the lecture is only 50 mins, but then we have to come back an hour later for a 3 hour lab! at least all my other classes are a litle less than an hour and a half.

next semester i'm hoping to finally get my PE, swim test, and Spanish out of the way.

I plan on going to AU . It's pretty close to home, like 10 min >.>.
But I plan on transferring to Kent State after a year a year of AU.
I'll be majoring in Businsess and or Psycology ^_^

Hopefully I 'll get enough money for education =/

Oh, we had to do a swim test, too. Its really fucked up 'cause you have to take it in order to graduate from here b/c we live close to a lake and they don't want anyone to risk drowining...thats another reason why I want to leave.. I stil haven't taken it

I'm missing my Amer. Studies class now.. I didn't go last week 'cause I was sick and i'm sick again.. and I was just starting to like this class too
