I always thought it was like eing high on pills, hence the Red & blue thing. And suicide that the pills are making the person think of it. Gerard said himself thta it was about suicide, and that you shouldn't do it.

I aslso read somewhere that Gerard wrote the song for Frank, when Frank was high.

I actually think this song is kinda simple but has a lor of meanings...

But mostly I think it's about drugs. Simple.

Red ones make me fly - uppers
Blue ones help me fall - downers

And there is a lot of suicide feeling behind it but that can be beacase of depression and/or the drugs.
The drugs mess up your mind and might make you wanna kill yourself...
Yea, drugs fuck you up alot. I think theres more than one way to think about the lyrics but no matter how you think about them it all conclodes to the same things: Suicide is bad, if your depressed get help.

i listened to this song after i read this and i was like ZOMG! Thats so true. sometimes you dont realise that somgs have meanings behind them. my and my friend laura sat in my room listneing to all there songs trying to work all the meanings. we are so obsessed with this band its almost like the best illness in the world. haha.

yeah, i think its about when he took drugs too. like the anti-depressants (RED) made him fly(HAPPIER.) and the narcotics(BLUE) made him fall(SLEEP). thats just what i thought of as the term. the first time i heard this song i knew it had something to do with killing, but i never thought of it as suicide either. He just creates such deep metaphors. Rolling Eyes

and i think that "the red ones MAKE him fly," it's like FORCING (hence the making part) him to be happy. and the "blue ones HELP me fall," it CONTRIBUTES to his fall of mood.

also, "i can't begin to let you know just what im feeling," its like he's in so many moods from the pills it cant be controlled and he cant explain it really. so hes just putting it in song hes just.... hes... BLLAHHHGGGAAJsdakjfdnsa.

no explanation for his mind. just like i love you but i hate you. idk. it has to do with Drugs. yeah. well.... hi. Bye

I think this is my favorite song on Bullets, for sure. Besides
Early Sunsets. It's fun to get you hyped up.

Before I forget, and I won't spam anymore after this,
but does anyone else notice that the talk show Craig Ferguson
has a similar theme song that sounds like Headfirst For Halos? Just
thought I'd throw that out there. XD

off the heezay!:
This song is about a couple. One of them decides that he wants to shoot himself in the head. His lover tells him to not do it, to just think happy thoughts and not do anything regarding him hurting himself. It's sending a good message to kids that suicide is not good.

By the way, does any one know what
And the red one's make me fly
And the blue one's helf me fall

means?
Thanks.

I think that he's talking about the color of the anti-depressants he's taking.

It means that he's doing drugs. The red pills get him high and the blue pills are like some sort of sleeping pills.

I think this has to do with not commiting suicide, but Gee also sings about 'we'll fly home', and 'pixie dust'. this could represent his first role in a school play, where he was Peter Pan.

I don't know if anyone else has thought of this, but Peter Pan comes into the song a lot.

The whole thing about
"Fall on your tongue like pixie dust"
Is obviously Tinkerbell.

And then the
"Think happy thoughts"
Is just like, you have to think happy thoughts if you wanna fly.

And then
"And we'll fly home, you and I"
Is about flying to Neverland, or back from Neverland, or something.

And the whole
"Blow my brains against the ceiling"
Is the excitement the children feel because they can fly - they all float up and bump their heads on the ceiling in the nursery.

i thought this was about bipolar disorder
the red one's make me fly
the blue one's help me fall
red pills=antidepressants (to negate the mania)
blue pills=anti psychotics (or something else to negate the depression)

Gerard wrote this song as a joke, Its about how bad is suicide and you shouldn't do It. And If you are really depressd and about to kill yourself please think happy thoughts and get some help. I also think its about Gerard's old girlfriend who killed herself with the gun to her head. And Gerard wanted to be with her (Fly together). But sadly she died. Gerard became sad and depressed so he bagan to smoke and take drugs and drink beer. At leaset Gerard gave up drinking and drugs!

Yeah, when he was a kid, Gerard played Peter Pan in his school play. I guess this song relates to Peter Pan and pills as well... "The red ones help me fly, and the blue ones help me fall,"... and if you see it from his point of view, the song's about being high on drugs. But, Gerard has stated that no one should do drugs... and that's kinda all I have to say. o.0
