i think it's also about being misunderstood, about people thinking things are so different from they are

pretty much self explanitory...why do people play games and fuck with your head? (rumours, bitching etc.), then this bit kinda makes me think of the popular kids:
"what will it take to show you that it's not the life it seems?"
people think things are so great, they say stuff like, "oh your always so happy". its fucking NOT like that...they dont understand what's going on in your head, what you've been through, how much things might hurt you
they think im cool because i can give a teacher cheeck, i can deliberately fail a test and not care, they think im such a rebel
its not like that...i hate being a fuck-up, but no matter i try i cant be like them.

they're shallow and fake. they dont know what it means to hurt, they dont understand the things i do and say, they just do things to fit in, because its the trend. they blindely follow anything that's "in" without even knowing the meaning behind it

they dont know what it's like to be an outcast, to be rejected, bullied, humiliated etc. etc.

to be inadequite (sp?), to fail, be a fuck-up. i tihnk the whole song is a cry for help, a cry of anger. but another important factor is how its about stuff that goes on internally, thats what makes it so powerfull, people never talk about it...
i think the bit where it goes all quiet and says "i'm okay"
then goes:
"you better listen to me, because im telling you the truth, i mean this, im okay!"
is about how you dont tell people, you say "im fine" while on the inside your screaming "no, im NOT o-fucking-kay"...your desperate, your hurting so much but you dont let it show...which is why it goes to the chorus right after, 'cause that's what your feeling. its the contrast of your internal torture and your external behaviour/appearance which is perfectly okay
it's crying out to be heard, noticed, while at the same time acting like nothing's wrong
sorry for rambling, its just a special song to me =]
