I think the song also refers to "Emo's" because "Darken your clothes and strike a violent pose" it kinda refers also to how much Teenagers have changed because Gerard sings "Teenager's scare the living shit outta me"

She's right.. Gerard said Teenager's is about gun violence in teens and shit.

I thought it was about a kid taking out years of bullying on the students. Like a shooting.
"What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did."

It's pretty straightforward.

I was right about the gun violence because before I even listened to the song I read the lyrics and the first thing to pop in my head was 'School Shootings'. Like 'Head First for Halos' this song is upbeat in rythym despite the dark subject matter.

one thing that got me with this song was the line
"maybe they'll leave you alone but not me"
is that as in Gerard wont leave 'you' alone
or the teenagers wont leave Gerard alone

You can't realy have all the song meanings seperate as The Black Parade is a concept album and each song is a chapter of the story but here's a link to the whole story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Patient that hass all songs on

It kind of reminds me of the song Jeremy by Pearl Jam. I was thinking that maybe it's about a kid that commits suicide or dies in a shooting and The Patient meets him in the after life. I also agree with the gun violence thing.

gerard said it was about gun violence

teenagers think that violence can prove their masculanity, and its really important to fit in in school and to be in cliques.

i know i saw an interview somewhere of gerard saying that like, one day he felt really old for the first time, and thought that he couldnt relate to the teenage fans anymore. He had a crisis about it and thats where the song first came from.

I'm not denying the fact that its about gun violence though, i'm sure its that too =)

i dont think its about gun violence or teenager killing each other.

I think its Gerards feelings about insecurity. I think hes used teenagers as a metaphor, because in the media they are portrayed as violent and nasty. I also think its about his feelings of aging. He feels like he hasnt fufilled himself.

Sorry if anyone thinks I'm crazy.

I do see your points about School Violence and stuff, but I look at it as a song about differences if that makes any sence. I could see the story as a straight-edged dude looking on at this boy/girl as something totally different from what he does/believes in.

"Teenagers scare the living shit out of me,
they could care less, as long as someone'll bleed,
so darken your clothes, or stick a violent pose,
maybe they'll leave you along, but not me."

As teenagers they are way more angry than adults can imagine, I think. So this is the song that speaks about it.

But it is my crackpot theory, so it is always up to interpretation, and like said ^, Gerald explained it, so who can fight that?? Razz

I know Gerard has said that Teenagers is about violence with teens.
Butfor me it goes farther than that, just simply saying how visious(sp?)
teenagers can be. Just plainly with judgements. How their are kids with "higher power" than others, that tease and taunt other people just cause they said something "lame". The drastic measures that teens will go to to hurt someone, emotionaly or physically. Also adressing the drug and violence problems with kids. And i felt it's also kind of a laugh at teens how they can just think their the shit when really teenagers are a bunch of immature idiots. Coming from an adult, Gerard, saying teens scare the shit out of him due to their.....stupidity shall I say?

And yeah I'm being a little harsh, but I am 14 and do know somewhat, what I'm saying. Those "troubled" "kids with additude" teens give the rest of us teens a bad rep. of being immature idiots. Yeah, I'm done rambling here....=X -talks too much-
