okay following gerards reason,; he said that he wrote it on the subway when a bunch of teens got on and were loud ect and he was like woah i dont fit in and realising that he isnt 'hip' or whatever and is dealing with getting older, also how teens have changed since he was younger Very Happy

but following the idea of a 'concept' album
the patient is looking back to how he was a teenager and now they are completly different! also how he thinks he is gonna die uncool and not understanding the 'new world'
could be a bit more but i can't think Very Happy

I personally think that its saying that the 'emo' culture is becoming more and more prominent and more of a threat on everyday life. I also think that by saying "so darken your clothes, and strike a violent pose" it is trying to tell us just to go along with it, it can't be avoided. But that's just my analysis Smile I also see the whole gun violence concept in it as well "what you've got under your shirt, will make them pay for the things that they did" but when i listened to it i always imagined it was a knife not a gun, but that's just me :')

I've heard that Gerard said he wrote it while he was on a train, and there were some teenagers running around, and he found himself really afraid of them. So, guessing your all right saying that its about Teenagers and Violence..

I think this is about how everyone is always making assumptions that all teenagers are "punks" or bad. Like as soon as you turn thirteen, BAM! You're going around smashing windows and drinking. "Those teenagers scare the living sh!t out of me!" As in they think that the teens are bad. "They could care less as long as someone will bleed, so darken your clothes and strike a violent pose." Referring to the stereotypes that are always assumed on them... It makes sense if you think about it.The first verse is about adults making sure that the "evil teens" are whipped into shape. And the second verse is about, if you don't act like the rest of the teenagers, you'll be ridiculed by them. That's my view. Disgust

I always thought this song was about gun violence, but my mom said it sounded like it was written about how many adults view teenagers, mainly parents (Yeah, how cool is that that my mom is as big of an MCR fan as I? Cool). I mean, if you listen to the song, it does seem like it is written that way. But it also feels like Gerard's writing about how when he's on stage performing, he's half-scared that all of his fans (mostly teenagers) are going to randomly crowd on the stage and take over. The thought of that just amuses me. Laughing

Well when i watched the making of teenagers one of the band members said how each generation scares the shit out of the last generation. But my personal interpritation is how you have to "darken your clothes and strike a violet pose" so people at school will not pick on you "maybe theyll leave you alone but not me" Overall i think its a song about surviving school.

Teenagers, well I think it's trying to say what the world is coming to, 'they couldn't care less as long as I wanna bleed'
makes sense, refering to gang members,

I think Teenagers is a lot about how teens are portrayed by the media and how older people percieve youths.. and about how modern culture and mentality drives teenagers to violence etc etc.. but hey, everyone has their own interpretations.. I think MCR want their songs to have multiple meanings... Smile

I'm not a stalker but I love 'em so much I once found an interview of Gerard (<3 <3 <3) and I found out that his reason for the song was that when he was on the subway a couple teenagers were messing around in that cart and as the song says, scared the sh*t out of him. This isn't the full one but here's where I learned. Love 'em all.

Hello MCRmy, I'm new to this site Bye

Here is my take on "Teenagers" and it's most likely not what Gerard intended. I think it's commenting on how adults view youth. They clean up their looks, rip up their heads and aspirations and try to make them what they want (a cog in the murder machine), and of course they drug them up and diagnose them with a "disease" at the first sign of them acting disagreeable. And all of this is manifested I think as fear (scare the living shit out of me) Our generation is obviously different and we are catching onto alot more than our previous generations (need I mention Occupy Wall Street?) and we have access to more technology. Of course that scares the crap out of the authorities. And the second verse could either be viewed as what the adults blame for all of our issues or how teenagers respond to this ever oppressive environment: by turning on each other. The main chorus is almost sarcastic and from the point of view of an authority figure "THEY say ALL teenagers scare the living shit out of me." I could almost picture this from the point of view of a principal, or a clueless parent or some adolescent psychiatrist. Passing a judgement on this generation.

Once again just my interpretation. That's the great thing about art, it can have many different levels.

Pretty sure it's about how we are supposed to be "normal" and how those of us who don't conform are seen as violent or outcasts and how it's okay to be different because we don't need to be the same because people will love us no matter who we are. People like our mcr family. "Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me"

I could be wrong tho. That's just how I interpret the lyrics.

Also, has anyone noticed that mcr broke up just before the band turned 13? It's probably because teenagers scare the living shit out of them. Please dont hate me for this. I read it and thought it was kinda funny. My friend already hit me for it...
