c/c? I think you diagnosed it yourself: too much texture.
it's a really neat concept, but I think you went off in all sorts of different directions and it got hard to look at.

I was just like, putting textures over the whole thing to try and ~tie the background thing with the picture, but I got a little carried away, I guess. xD
