I'm not sure how close the fires were to us [Newcastle] but we sure felt it. The sky was all orange and there was ashy fog everywhere and the wind was really hot and strong and to make things worse, the smoke rose up into the clouds and made thunder. It nearly blew my fence down.

i'm not really close any fires anymore but last week i think some guys lit one in the bush just west (i think) of town, i live just east of town but it still wasn't good! They were lit as near a huge playground. |

It was horrible. |

Lol, I thought I was the only one who likes the smell XD
I don't like it when its a full on could-possibly-burn-the-house-down bushfire, but just backburns are ok lol
Haha, where I live, there's a massive valley that ends at our back fence,
& once, a few years ago, they decided to backburn in the valley, it was soooo funny!
There was about 15 firetrucks in our street, and at one stage we had 3 parked in our front yard/driveway,
& there was newspaper people, & tv people there, & my dad got interviewed for the channel 7 news XD
& the house 2 down from us was on the front page of the Sunday Telegraph, with a headline "Firefighters battle to save homes", it was only a backburn!
