I really want to go to a MCR concert in March but my parents are refusing! I'm writing an essay ( Very Happy ) on why I should be able to go. If you guys have any ideas please post 'em! Thanks!

-Ellie

PS...this thread isn't just for me but for anyone that needs help with their parents and MCR!

Well pretty much, music is my main interest for sure, so there is never any chance i won't go if i want to.

Suure, my parents might say no...but they don't really get it so i go anyway.

But i wouldn't recommend this very much.

Umm...well just buy the ticket and say one day "Hey, i'm going to see MCR in March, BYE" and then walk out and go to the shops or the park for like...an hour or 2 and then when you come back your parents might forget that you said it...

...well it worked for my friend...

But i wouldn't recommend that either until you've had a talk with them and they say you can't go...

Haha...

I usually make a deal with my parents. Like this month I went to Twisted 13 but I also wanted to see Glassjaw which was later on that week! They were like "oh no! you just went to a concert." So I paid for my ticket begged my brother to take me and then promised that I wouldn't go to another concert until March. And it's working out since besides Incubus in Feb (which is sold out anyway) there are no other shows coming up that I want to go to.
So make them an offer they can't refuse and buy the tickets yourself if you can.
Or if you have a friend with an extra tix, just go with them.

Well what happened with my parents was they went to see Elton John without me and my brother (I was obviously disappointed..) and they promised to take us to a concert - which ended up being Muse, and I also managed to be able to go to MCR in March.

In other words, I would try and guilt trip your parents into buying you tix, or at least taking you to the concert

well...i'm willing to pay for tickets, gas money (i'm going with my friend), hotel, food, etc... but my parents are really...i guess...protective about MCR...it took me half a year of begging and getting on their nerves to get Three Cheers because it had a parental advisory thingy on it....but since then i've been getting whatever cds i want...so...yeah....they're quite protective on stuff like that...and by looking at me you wouldn't really be able to tell that this music shit means the world to me!!!....Thanks for your comments guys!!! i'll use 'em!!!

Thanks!

oo, this is so relevant.
i have my ticket to see mcr in april. which is grand. that part that stinks is that me and my dad got into serious arguments recently, and he says i'm not going to the show.
if i do not get to go to this show, i will die. no question about it.
basically, if you want to go, suck up to your parents big time.
right now, i have to just be nice to my dad, and let him think he's right all the time, hold my tongue and do what he says, or else i may as well kiss my ticket goodbye.
do whatever your parents tell you to, if it means getting to go to the show!
seriously. heh. try to show them that you're a responsible person, and how much going to see mcr would mean. tell them that if you're allowed to go, you'll do such and such; help around the house, try hard at school, etc etc.
kiss their asses, and i hope to goodness they do let you go. =].

Well I have a problem too. My mom said we can go to the Feb show in Philly, and she's gonna get tickets, but I'm afraid Gee's gonna make some orgasmic noise (LMFAO) and it's gonna be REALLY awkward. Anyone else have this problem?

Hmm, I don't have that problem, but been in some awkward situations - like watching American Pie and films like that with parents. My advice would to just not look at your mom until he's finished, then it shouldn't be so awkward lol. Hope it works! xD

^Ha OMG lol...just slightly awkard.

Well i had that problem my mom didn't want me to go [cause she said i'll get squished and die] but then i offered to pay for everything and i conned my older sister into going with me so she said twas ok but i'm gathering you don't have an older sibling you could use...i mean...take =cough= not use
But i'd go with sucking up, that generally works...=barney the purple dinosaur moment= or show them how mature you can be [spam/ i always hated barney's creepy voice /spam] By the way acting mature won't work, act like a child, chuck a tantrum. That's far more effective lol.

ahhhhh. this is why i said my mum couldn't come with me, when i went, because
1)it would have been way too embarrassing being there with my mum
2)she probably wouldn't have liked it
3)she probably would have seen how rough the crowd was, and somehow dragged me out, and made me leave, so it would have ruined the whole show
4)yah, the whole gerard, becoming kind of sexual on stage sometimes + possible swearing, would not have downed well with my maja.

i feel for you. heh.
just try to maybe get lost in the crowd, away from her, so that if, at any point there are orgasmic noises/motions (ohyeah, he did this amazingly sexy thing, when i went to see them, where he like held his hand up and licked it...multiple times..hiodhaNFDuHAofhdofgfhg Naughty), then if you do happen to be accidentally seperated from your mum, you won't have to go through the whole being embarrassed thing, cause she won't be standing right beside you.
