Yes, but there are logical reasons for why the above three you mentioned are not legal.

-Incest is also banned for medical reasons, I think. If an incest couple have a child, it might [probably] end up with lots of mental medical issues.
-With Animal/Human relationships, I can't see how its possible to actually have the wedding ceremony. I mean, how does anyone know the animal "accepts" to be married to the person.
-Peadophilia is only considered paedophilia when the child is underage, and I don't think children are even allowed to get married/make their vows/whatever, so if an underage child is getting married to an older dude, I don't think paedophilia is the only issue. However if the couple are both adults, I don't see what the problem is. It also depends on what the gap do you consider paedophilia within two adults.

Apart from religion, I cant think of any reasons why Gay Marriage shouldnt be allowed.

The thing is, now that the arguement of "love is love" has been banned, you're all now picking on the other relationships that it could apply to.
This is for homosexual rights, not incest/animal/paedophilic relationships.

Pleas keep on topic.

Bloodraine:
I am against Gay Marriage (as definable by a Christian/Religious ceremony taking place in a Church/Religious building) when the religious authorities do not wish for said marriage to take place. If you can find a church that will accept that, then good for you, I have no problems. Remember; churches do not allow heretosexual atheists, agnostics, muslims, whoever, to marry in their buildings. And as long as any one church feels obligated to deny a homosexual couple from being married, then I will respect that.

Still, the government has no right to change religion, and religion has no right to change the government, so as long as the Church doesn't allow gay marriages, I am against all government benefits for religious marriages. There should be a total separation.

Civil unions, on the other hand?
Yeah. Perfect solution. Every couple hould have access to one regardless of orientation, and a Civil Union should come with all the same marital rights, just without it being granted in a Church.

i agree with the civil union idea. it would be the perfect solution. i support gay marriage beacuse i think that if you love someone that much you should be able to marry them. I want to marry my ex gf......we still feel the love it just we cant be together now. back to the point. i think the government should set up unions for gays and lesbians and give the unions right to marry a couple. And it should have nothing to do with the church.

Our Avenged Jules:
I'm sorry, I have to disagree with that particular part.
I don't think someone is necessarily born homosexual.
It's something you come to learn about yourself - a preference.
You're not born with a preference for chocolate over vanilla, it's something you experience.
I think, what you're trying to get at, is that homosexuals don't necessarily have control over their attraction to the same gender.
A homosexual person, in my opinion, might believe they've always been gay at heart, but I believe as a person, you might never discover that about yourself - you might choose to ignore it, or you might openly embrace it.

I can't speak with total authority, being that I'm not gay, but I don't think homosexuality is a preference. It is something people discover about themselves, but I think that's because in today's society it's assumed you're straight until proven otherwise (well, that, and the fact that until puberty romantic relationships are "icky", and therefore a person couldn't be certain until at earliest the age of approx. 11-13). Some people may never discover they're gay because they've been totally repressed by society and are afraid to come to terms with it (a la video-camera kids' dad in "american beauty" ). Unless you mean some people could be totally content in heterosexual relationships, and never discover that they could be with a person of the same gender...?

In any case, even if homosexuality is a preference to be discovered, once person discovers they're gay, they cannot be happy in a heterosexual relationship (at the risk of making a generalization: largely homosexual people can't be happy in a heterosexual relationship). I think they still, then, deserve the right to be married.

Absolutely, I agree. Not everyone is religious and gay people should be able to get married, without the bible being involved. All of the politicians that make the decisions about gay marriage in Australia are 50+ men who are christians. It is the same with abortion etc. They should be based on the best interests of the people, not a religion an individual may not even believe in.

I support gay marriage completely.

People should be able to live their lives the way they want.
Technically, Homosexuals, arent harming anyone.
Sometimes, you cant help who you fall in love with, and i think its really sucky that people get mad at Homosexuals for jsut being themselves.

I fell in love with a guy, and I really didnt have any say in the matter, it just happend.
and thats what its like for them, it just happens.

Because I really do beleive, love knows no age, or race, or sex.

and I dont beleive homosexuals are born that way, we all have a choice.
nobody was born any way, we all evolve as we grow, some just grow, sexually, different. thats all.

we talked about this today in one of my classes and i am not gay but i support gay marriage 100% I believe if 2 people are really in love, let them be in love, just because the biggest dumb ass in the world says no to same sex marriage, doesn't mean the 2 people still won't be in love. Last year i would have been 100% no for gay marriage but this year i made alot of gay friends and they are some of the nicest people i have ever met. They didn't do anything wrong to deserve evryone hating them. If they wabt to be gay they fredom of expression in the first amendment Clap

Can this go here?

Okay, so, all my friends except maybe one or two (out of quite a few people, and one of those who is in the straight category is more questioning) are gay or bi (including me). We didn't know this at the beginning, it just ended up that way.
And I've thought of 3 possible reasons, though I'm by no means for all of them (kind of not possible) and maybe not believing any:
1.Most people are actually like this, but we're more open.
2. Gay people have a certain personality.
or 3. Homosexuality or bisexuality is contagious.

Anyone want to add an opinion here? Or another reason, since I'm tired and can't really think? Or be a mod and decide to delete this, maybe.

I'm kind of believing the first, though there's a whole lot of us. O.o

I think it's just the fact that you all have such a huge thing in common.
I skateboard; most of my friends skateboard.
Girls who likes to shop; most of her friends like to shop.
Guys with tattoos hang out with other guys with tattoos.
I know all the gay/lesbian people at my school chill together, sooooo.
It's probably just a common-background thing. You all can relate to eachother the best!

Now, on topic:
Bloodraine, I agree with you.
I personally have no problem with homosexuals, or them being given the same rights as a married couple, but marriage is a term of the church, not the laws, exactly. So beign able to be married doesn't seem viable to me as long as churches consider homosexuality a sin which, they probably always will.

adam carson.:
I don't get it.
If marriage is a religious thing, then why's the government getting involved?
What happened to seperation of church and state?
And why can't the different religions and versions of religions just resolve things based on their various beliefs?

If it's not religious, than what's up with having to have civil unions?
And can we please ignore the people with religious arguments then, since it's not relevant?

This was posted without reading any of the above, BTW.

There never was really a thing called seperation of church and state. All state was orginally based off religion. Besides that, if someone is religious and is against gay marriage because of that, it's completely irrelavent. In no way is it affecting them. They may also be against drinking or smoking, but that's legal and they don't mind it as much. I'm for it completely.

hmm...let me take a crack at this whole love is love, who it applies to, etc.
[pleease don't warn me/ban me/flame me/run me off the board with a pitchfork, i'm trying to elaborate on the statement not use it on its own]
in my mind, love is love when no one is getting hurt.
well, scratch that. when no one is being abused.
incestual relationships result in a narrow gene pool, and are generally nonconsensual for at least one of the parties.
beastiality, that's outright animal abuse.
and pedophillia is rarely consensual on the child's part--and even if it is, it's always detrimental to the child. even if they end up living a successful life, that experience is always traumatic and harms the child.
but a homosexual relationship...providing it's nonabusive...i don't see any reasons like the ones i listed above. and that is personally why i believe that the love between two people of the same gender is no different than the love between a man and a woman.

Religions does play a major role in this, dont disregard it (its explained later in my post).
Homosexuality and gay marriage is such an overated topic. I have no problem against gay marriages and all that. We shouldnt judge our neighbor's choice of sexual partner. But marriage is a total different thing. Since we live in a society that is based/brainwashed (no offence to religious people) on religion and the fact that for over 2000 years, relationships have been blessed only for the connections of a man and a woman, now that we live in a democratic society we feel that we have much more many rights.
I for one originally grew up in a post-socialist country and I have to say that I have not hit on the homosexuality topic until I moved to a democratic nation.
I think that gay marriages should be allowed but only for legalization aka in paper only.
Since all religions are against the thought of religious gay marriage ceremonies, why should we fight it?
Now incest, pedophilia and bestiality are totally different things. Those are just morally wrong, to me at least. If somebody was doing one of those, I'd rather not know about it, keep to yourself, its the best.

PS: Those are just my own views, please dont flame me for what I believe, but I would like to hear opinions.

My friend is BI and I don't care. People always say what a fag, I shrug my shoulders and say so what. Homosexuals should have the right to walk in public places with out critisism.

I do not support gay marriages. People today are trying to make our world think that it is alright, when God said that it was not. I've argued on this point so many times, but it all just boils down to your religious beliefs.

Why should a religions choice have an effect on those who are not religious though?
For those who want to be married in a non-religious ceremony,
or to have a civil union, why not allow them to do so?

And if we are going by religion's standpoint here....
Who are we to pass judgement on ANYONE?
Only God has the right to judge someone and their actions, preferences,
so we, as humans, have no right to condemn them for their actions,
unless it directly hurts others and is a danger to society.

If that were the case, love, God also gave mankind freedom of though and freedom of expression.
Meaning, he gave us the right to choose for ourself.

*sigh*

I don't know why I'm posting, because I'll be shot down.

God doesn't say anywhere Gay MARRIAGE isn't allowed. Fix your wording.

Know how I know? I have the original text of the bible, not the mis-translated ENGLISH version. I have the HEBREW version.

The ONLY thing it says is, "A man shalt not lie with another man". That's it. It doesn't say "OMG LOL GAIS CNT MARE EECH ODR".

In fact, it doesn't say anything about girls, so that's been a dispute in Judaism.
If you want further proof, I will analyze the text further and post the Hebrew if you wish.

So to those who say Gay Marriage isn't allowed from God, read the text for once.
