The first time I heard it, I immediately latched onto the idea that it was about the fans. Then I thought, having been written with other stuff in TBP, it's about the patient and his view on the world and his apparent death, and wanting just to be back with the one he loves. However, the more I hear it, and simply even going by Gerard's tone in it, I'm really leaning towards the idea that it's about fans. Very Happy

I've listened to it so many times, and I honestly can't really figure out what the song means.
I'm pretty sure its about a relationship between MCR and their fans.
Haha other than that - I have no idea.

i PM'd you =].
^ i'm still kinnda confused as to what it's about entirely.
some parts seem to be about the fans and then other parts don't necessarily point to that direction.

the patient is dead as a epilouge to famous last words he wants back to life. mcr can do that for him.

My favorite of the b-sides!
The lyric as a whole, I think, addresses a lot of different issues around them. To me, the lyrics say that MCR are conscious of things that goes around them, what people are saying about them, the fans, and things like that.
I could probably do a line by line analysis and write an essay complete with a thesis…but I’m not that insane…

I agree, to me it seems like it about a lot of things, the fans, the patient's view about the world, Gerard's girlfriend and the band itself and it's purpose.

i dont know about the fan's stand point theory we've got going on. well i think its about how mcr isnt going to change or havnt changed like many believe. with the verse: "We're not here to pay a compliment,
Or sing about the government,
Oxycontin genocide,
Adolescent suicide,
I'll give you my sincerity,
Don't give a fuck about a Kennedy,
Here's what I've got to say."

they're going to sing about what they went through or try to tell a story. i don't know i guess its just another idea.

Gerard is being stopped from getting to where he wants to- someone is standing in his way of getting home, to where he wants to be.
It could be who or whatever u want it to be- the fans, his band, record producers, or even the drugs and drink, but whatever it is its keeping him from being where he needs to be

it's a great song, you should listen to it. you can find it on itunes or limewire.
for some reason, i thought it was about mikey when i first listened to it. like, when he was depressed and had to leave the band for a while. it could also be about a girlfriend of gerard's or the fans. i think all of them are good.
