i personally think its about the bands dreams and aspirations, personified as the female, and the people/things blocking their way as the "you"(perhaps directed at someone who wronged them) and the band stating they were willing to do anything to get there..
"...it's through you and i know, what i'd do, just to get back in her arms..."

ok every MCR song has multiple meanings, here what I think this song means

1. the holocust:
Gonna take off all my skin-tell you how I feel (Anne Frank)
tear apart out all my insides when they rifle in-fear of getting caught
mom and dad think you'll be saved- peopl have hope they'll be ok
they never had the time-they don't put up with messing around serious
they gonna medicate your lives-tell its ok
we salute you in your grave- its amazing you got through this

I can't find my way home- I don't know what to do to
but it's through you - I trust you
And I know what I'd do just to get back in your arms- I want to be with you

oh my God, vile, 7 different shades of shit,
so whats your favorite color punk?- how do you feel about what going on

do you wanna hold my hand- can you comfert/help me
could you sign this photograph- remember all the good times
cause I'm your biggest fan- if you love someone, you always cheer them on
would you leave me lieing here?- would you stay with me
we're not here to pay a complaiment-sarcasm, like wow you guys suck at
or sing about the government running a country
Oxycontin genocide- whats going on
Adolescent suicide - alot of people killed themselves before the nazis could
Give him my sincerity - it might be sypathy for someone taken or sarcasm
Don't give a fuck about a Kennedy - it doesn't matter about stars when your fighting to survive.

we've got to go- into hiding
c'mon angel don't you cry- don't worry loved one it'll be ok

I turned that in for a school assignment

We're not here to pay a compliment
Or sing about the government
Oxycodone genocide
Adolescent suicide
I'll give you my sincerity
Don't give a fuck about a Kennedy
Here's what I got to say!

I think this bit is bout them not wanting to preach or be political but just singing the shit that they mean.

Gonna take off all my skin,
Tear apart all of my insides,
When they rifle in,
Mom and Dad think you'll be saved,
They never had the time,
They gonna medicate your lives,
You were always born a crime,
We salute you in your grave.

and this bit bout if some parents kids get depressed or shit and the parents shoving pills down the kids throat to make em normal but it doesnt work and they end up dead (suicide) or worse off

i agree with you. But i also think it could be directly about the band and their aspirations and how the media degrades them but they don't really give a fuck about any of it. I think the band are really just pushing their opinions into perspective with the verse that starts "We ain't here to pay a compliment/ or sing about the government.."

I also think that the song may proving the relationship between MCR and their fans, and how they're there for us since we support them.. you know.

So i guess there's a lot of ways to interpret this song, what more could we expect from My Chem? x]

In the past I just felt "Its just Gerard and his mocking ways. For this song hes got nothing else to say but that hes hung up on a girl and "Can't find his way home, but its through you, and he knows what he'd do just to get back in her arms" - love and its mixed emotions"

Now that I saw it in concert I have a totally different view of its meaning. While my first impression works I truly believe this song is about the fans of MCR.

Gonna take off all my skins
Tear out all my insides - the feeling of being in the pit
When they rifle in, - coming to the venue
Mom and dad think you'll be saved - parents hope this music means something

They never had the time, - parents never had the time
They're gonna medicate your lives - the expectations of MCR
You were always born a crime - the fans are sterotyped
We salute you in your grave! - MCR saluting the fans in the pit

Can't find my way home
But it's through you and I know - Fans without direction, only following MCR
What I'd do just to get back in your arms - fittng MCR into life's everyday problems

We're not here to pay a compliment
And sing about the government
Oxycodine genocide
Adolescent suicide
I'll give you my sincerity
Don't give a fuck about a Kennedy
Here's what I've got to say!

In other words the fans have nothing important to say or reflect on. Its just about MCR but any message they had is lost in the mania. This song greatly reflects upon the Who's "Baba O'Riley" or for the wannabes "Teenage Wasteland" ~ Rex

Man, I take it as a fans point of view kindof thing too. Like some people said earlier. And like how MCR feels towards the fans,

Can't find my way home but its through you--- They found out alot about themselves within My chemical romance and how the fans support and love them so much that they may feel they arnt totaly sure what they'd do or where they'd go without them. You know? But then again, I could be completely wrong. It's a song that can be taken in ways with past love, current love, friends, you know. I take it as a song about somebody that always is there and always keeps you grounded and you don't know where you'd be or what you'd do without that person in your life.

Interesting understanding, I never thought of it that way...but if sure fits. I don't know, for me watching Gerard sing "We salute you in your grave" to thousands of screaming fans in a hell hole of a pit makes me thinks its about us.

i personally agree with Mr. Magoo, and then Norrel's suggestion, it kinda makes sense:

MCR + Ideals + Tour Life = fans claiming salvation

etc. etc. etc. i really liked Mr. Magoo's enterp.

Wow, if it's about tour then my friends && I were so wrong...

We thought it was about the Vietnam era && was kind of a protest song.

Gonna take off all my skin,
Tear apart all of my insides,
When they rifle in,
Mom and Dad think you'll be saved,

-- We thought this part meant the draft as in they didn't wanna go [so they're hurting themselves I guess cause they're mad]. && How the government is forcing them to go [when they rifle in] && "Mom && Dad" refer to America itself [saving it from Vietnam]

That's just a little example there's also that part about genocide && suicide both of which happened in the Vietnam War. Oxycontin, I was told was a drug && I believe it was popular in the '60s [Vietnam Era]

This song is to Lyn-z (=
I think he (Gerard) wants her to see how much he loves her, and doesn't matter where he is or what happens, he knows he can go home and be with her ^^

I think this is about someone who wants his lover to know how much he cares.

Personally, I can't imagine the first part being Gerard or the Patient, but there you go.
"Gonna take off all my skin,
Tear apart all of my insides" -- I'm going to be truthfull, even if the truth hurts.

When they rifle in,
Mom and Dad think you'll be saved -- they never understood what you really felt, people are attacking him, but they just think other people will help, or they don't belive it's really happening.

They never had the time
They're gonna medicate your lives -- he was depressed, but they just gave him anti-depressants, didn't try to help in their own way because they were just too busy.

You were always born a crime
We salute you in your grave -- the parents have passed away but he knows that they still thought that he wasn't good enough right to the end.

Can't find my way home
But it's through you and I know
What I'll do
Just to get back in your arms -- he's telling his lover that he's lost because he still loved his parents, but he knows she will help him. He doesn't care about anything else except getting back to her.

Well my gun fires seven different shades of shit
So what's your favorite color, punk? -- if somebody tries to hurt lover, he'll attack them in any way he knows.
This is where it sounds like Gerard.
Do you wanna hold my hand?
Could you sign this photograph?
'Cause I'm your biggest fan
Would you leave me lying here? -- he's got fans, and he does care about them. He knows that they are relying on him, and he won't let them (us!) down.

We're not here to pay a compliment
And sing about the government
Oxycontin genocide
Adolescent suicide
Give him my sincerity
Don't give a fuck about a Kennedy
Heres what I got to say: -- this song isn't about teenage depression or anything else which he might sing about, it's just for his lover.

C'mon, Angel, Don't you cry -- double meaning for me - he's supporting his fans and his lover.

That took me a while! But, it's just my thoughts. I absolutely love this song, so ....

my favorite of the b-sides :]

I don't think it's part of the story of The Black Parade, actually. My opinion is that this is Gerard saying, "Well, maybe I have written all these songs to help people, and maybe it's worked, but now I think I should do something for me." So I think it's just his feelings on a situation, especially because of
