I think it's sort of political. if you think about what's currently going on in our government, using "blood" and wanting it would be a metaphor that I think they'd use.

Either that, or it's just continuing the theme with the patient. If it were talking about hospitals.

hes in a mental hospitle and their blood testing him like he might have a chemical inbalance (i gave u blood, blood gallons of the stuff) and the lyric (i gave u all that u can drink and it will never b enough) meaning that u can test as much as u want and ull never fix me
the lyric (the doctors and the nurses they adore me so but its rilly quite alarming because im such an awfull fuck) means that the nurses and docs "visit" alot even though i have a horrilbe attitude
but i think they visit so they can see his living habbits and how he reacts toward certain things

he might even b in a lab where theiy test him like a lab rat but im leanin towards the mental thingy

I don't think that this song has much meaning and it's just supposed 2 be a random song about blood Dance

Wow, this song could be so powerful from one aspect...or so random from another, and yet, we all still love it....(if your sane, anyway! Very Happy )
I think its either about:
1.) A vampire
OR
2.) A patient
OR
3.) The Band

I definitely think a lot of you have great ideas, and they caused me to look at it at so many different angles!;

I have my own interpretation of the song.
I believe it is a hidden message.
if you listen to almost every other verse you will hear it.
"They encourage all complete cooperation
I can't control myself because I don't know how,
Give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff
Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough,
So give them blood, blood, blood
A celebrated man amongst the gurneys
I gave you blood, blood, gallons of the stuff
I gave you all that you can drink and it has never been enough
I gave you blood, blood, blood
I'm the kind of human wreckage that you love
My interpretation is this verse by verse:
Something is either making him or forcing him to cooperate with it.
He can't fight it and he can't control what he does
So he gives it blood to try to satisfy it
He is a hero among the dead(gurneys), possibly on a battlefield
He tells the thing that he gave it what he thought it wanted, lots of blood,
strength for it
And he refers to himself as human wreckage, he is powerless to stop or fight this thing and may become like the dead he killed for the thing.

That is my interpretation, because why would a song start at 1:30, unless there was something meant for someone to find and look between the lines at?
Just a thought...

Ray and Bob said on Rockline that they think Gerard wrote it as a metaphor to the music industry, or being famous. I think it can be interpreted in many ways.

I actually made a Sims 2 video for this song (uploaded on Youtube).

For this song I saw more along the lines of the band in an Asylum-like place, where insane Doctors and dangerous Nurses are there "taking care of them".

They crave for the blood of MCR/TBP and Gerard is basically complaining and stuff about the place and how he has to be there. I guess. xD

Um........ some of those lyrics im pretty sure are kinda off...... here is what i think they are

Well they encourage your complete cooperation
Send you roses when they think you need to smile
I can't control myself because I don't know how
And they love me for it honestly I'll be here for a while

So give them blood blood gallons of the stuff
Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough
So give them blood blood blood
Grab a glass because there's going to be a flood

A celebrated man amoungst the gourneys
They convince me propper with a bit of luck
But the doctors and the nurses they adore me so
But it's really quite alarming cuz im such an awfum F**K (thank you)

I gave you blood blood gallons of the stuff
I gave you all that you could drink and it has never been enough
I gave you blood blood blood blood i'm the kinda human reckage that you love

As for the song meaning i dont really know what i think of it i love it though

Wow that really makes sense now. I never thought about the meaning of the song, I didn't even think it had one. I just thought it was supposed to be a funny little theatrical song. But that really makes sense when you think about the lyrics.

i thought it was about them doing blood cultures on the patient, how his family sends him flowers tomake him feel better, he is tired of the blood tests, he is the most tended to patient in the ward because he is very terminal, he can't control his bodily functions, and the doc and nurses loving him is just sick sop sympathy mixed with patronizing.
of course...i could be wrong.

i thinks its about there (mcr) life being famous they do there best and give the crowd what they want, but the crowd always wants more. the blood is there songs, there music, its the one thing that conects them with there fans. its also the one thing they cant live without, you cant live without insperation, you cant live without blood.
i think the song also may have to do with the controling society that they live in there lives are controled by producers, managers and tight tour scedules.there life is not really ruled that freely.

im not totally sure what its really about but this is just a guess!

I never thought it did before, but it could be about being in the music business. Like when you put so much of yourself into someting, and you give so much, it's metaphorically like giving your blood. In TBP deluxe edition booklet, Gerard mentioned that making the FLW video was like giving their blood until there wasn't any more to give.

It's about some crazy-assed guy who is in a psychiactric(lol, spelling error) ward and he thinks that they're drawing blood to drink it. He thinks that they all love him, when obviously he's one demented dude. There's my opinion.

after reading others interpretations, i'm gonna have to agree with the whole music scene with the fans, media, and touring, even if that isn't the real meaning of the song, i like that one.
