teaching 5th graders about fucking somebody encourages them
--------
Find me a study that proves this, because I've heard of enough studies that say teaching someone about sex doesn't encourage them.

Profanity isn't allowed here, dear. Wink
Teaching 5th graders about how to be safe and wait till you are the proper age to have sex, get tested for STDS, teaching them how a baby is born into the word, teaching them science and if anyone of those 5th graders would love to become a doctor or a scientist to cure STDs sex-ed encourages them to help find a cure for STDs. Not all of them are going to wait to have sex, not all of them care to get tested, not all of them want to cure anything, not all of them are going to use a condom. Sex-ed helps kids and teaches them about sex.

Maybe. Maybe not. I prefer 6th grade rather than sex-ed being taught to 5th grade, but that's why they have permission slips.

I was quoting someone. =| The profanity was not from me.
But I agree with what you're saying. I don't think I ever learned the mechanics of sex in 5th grade..just the reproductive system and all of the basic stuff.

I was home-schooled so I don't know what exactly they teach in sex ed, but I definetly hope that not only do they teach kids about safe sex and all, but I also hope that they encourage kids to not have promiscuous sex. Of course safe sex is the way to go, but I believe you should only do it with someone that you love and that loves you. I'm old fashioned. Smile

I think the misinterpretation was because of your unconventional
way of Quoting, Mari.

It would be a lot clearer to those reading your posts if you actually quoted
the person by clicking the quote button on their post, rather than re-typing it.
Just neatens everything up and makes for less misunderstandings.

Just a thought. Wink

I've got to admit, I've never got "the sex talk" from anywhere.
I'm in year 9 (turning 14) and am yet to be told anything, even though I do know about sex and how to "do it" safely.
I know of a few people around me who have already had sex, with no idea what they are doing, how to do it safely, or what to expect.
I think it depends on the type of education as to what age it should be taught. I think it is important that it is taught from a young age, but I also think it should be done in stages. In my opinion I think safe sex should be taught rather then Telling kids not to do it at all. They will still do it, but not know what to do. It's better it be taught, as a precaution to what might happen as to not at all. I mean, children/teenagers can still be told about different froms of protection like abstinence and still be taught the rest of it for when/if they need it.

=] I actually don't like the pyramid quoting. It really does take up the page. It's much easier for me to stick to the habit of replying under lines. Usually most people get it and I haven't had a problem with it yet.

i think with all the teen pregnancy that is happening
to day they should be teaching sex education
at a younger age i know of a nine year
old that if pregnant from a ninteen year old
guy kids these days need to know about
the risks of STDs and that even though
they dont think that this stuff could happen'
to them they can still get pregnant or get AIDS
and they just dont realize that AIDS doesnt have
a cure yet and its so horrible.
I think it is s wrong for young woman to get
pregnant when they arent physicly, mentally, or
finanually stable enough to have a baby!!!!!Sad

druscilla; in cali:
I believe in sex education.
I do not believe in "abstinence-only" sex education.
I think it's irresponsible to not teach teenagers about safe sex.
I think it's just plain stupid to think that by teaching abstinence-only they won't have sex. [/b]

I believe that TEENAGERS should learn sex ed and be given all that facts, so then they can make an informed choice themselves.
Sex ed should be taught to an age group who will be entering the hormone period that makes them think about fellow students in a different way.

I find Sex-Education hilarious because I'm immature and clinically insane.. But teaching 1st graders? Jeebus... Anyways, sex is a part of life and we should learn at a certian age the anatomy of it.. I mean, you shouldn't learn about it while your uber young but you gotta know sooner or later.
