LMFAO xD

What the hell, that's the first thing I (and I'm assuming many, many others) think of when I think of a library- borrowing books!

And lol.
Who socialises at a library?
Well maybe it happens at other unis... not mine though lol

Hahahaha! That's great.

Well, we USED to socialise at our uni, because we played poker there every week... but we did make a lot of noise, and one day (I was working (at the library) on this particular day) my friends got kicked out, and we can't play there anymore. In fact, here's the email that we got sent xD

Hi everyone,

Many staff will be aware that over the last few months there has been a
regular group of poker players in the library wedge areas who have been very
noisy and disturbing other users.

Steve Thomas and I finally managed to catch up with these people today and
they have agreed to move their regular tournament to the Mayo Café.

Please remember that all staff are nominated officers and authorised (ie
obligated) to remind and enforce users of library rules regarding food,
drink, noise and disruptive behaviour. If you are in a situation where you
feel unable to speak to users directly regarding problem behaviour, please
let myself or a supervisor know so that we can follow up where possible.

And if the poker players reappear, please let me know,

Cheers,

lmfao, it made us laugh so much. And now I just love going in there with my bf (who the woman identified as the 'leader') or other friends who got kicked out. They apparently glared at a few of them one day when they went in to use the computer, and like, watched them really carefully. Oh the amusement!!!

LMAO. That's gold.

Yeah, people socialise at out our libraries. But we have 15 of them, and multiple levels. Some have 'study areas' on some levels. So people go to just hang for a bit away from the masses.

Ahh ok.
Our library has study areas too, but I think people only go there to actually study lol.
The Cottage is where all the socialising is xD

lmao.
I think though, that a Bachelor of Media Arts is different than a double degree of Media and Arts. I'm not doing a double degree, it's just Media Arts lol.

But I do have trouble trying to define to people what Media Arts is... haha, I end up just saying "it's like... communication... and shizz... yeah".
>.>

But I do love PR ^__^
i thought it would be scary and hard, but it's actually quite good.

Hahaha, I'm doing Bachelor of Communication, and whenever I tell people that they're like "...and that is...?", so now I just say I'm doing Journalism & PR/Advertising lol

I used to love PR...
... until I started Public Opinion & the Public Sphere. omfg, (third) worst subject ever!
It's just so boring

Lol yeah, Media Arts would be different from Media/Arts. Seeing as ours is really boring, and you get interesting subjects like digital design and web design and PR. Sigh. I love being at Adelaide but I wish that our course was better.

And yeah, why do people not understand what it is?! No one knows what media is either. So I'm just like 'yeahh... I want to be a journalist when they grow up', which they either accept or ask whether I'm not just doing journalism.

Yeah, it's 'cause Media is such a broad subject XD
Like, I have friends in the same course [Media Arts] who do completely different subjects to me... like film electives and languages etc.

The thing I hate about is all the rhetoric you have to learn for communication

omg, sounds like you have waaay nicer lecturers than us D:

My lecturer for News Reporting went on a half hour rant today about how if we didn't pick up our acts, we'd have to repeat the subject, and then we'd be humiliated because we'd be behind everybody else in the course "/

I also just want to say, I will be so fucking happy after 1pm tomorrow, because then I'll finally have a week off!
But first, I need to come up with another thousand words for this fucking Comm Law essay :@

Haha, he was actually doing it to make up for the fact that he lost my results. xD But he was sweet. Really old school, so the whole opening doors for me and not walking through the archways before me and bringing me my drink and stuff. Nawh. I'm not a sucker for chivalry, but he's one of those really sweet old dudes, so it was nice.

Lecturers like that suck. >.< It's like, why should they care? They still get paid no matter what. Just shut up and teach the subject or we'll be even further behind.

I get that they have to explain themselves if their whole class fails. But seriously. The ranting doesn't help.

I've only had one lecturer that's ever gone off at us. He was a guest lecturer. He was running over time and his stuff wasn't gonna be on the exam, so some people were leaving to go to their next class. He went right off tap at them, saying how they were gonna fail and shizz. So we all laughed at him and left. I think like a dozen people stayed for the rest of his lecture. Out of 400 odd.

Prime example of how ineffective ranting is. xDDD

Aww, I'm jealous of you having nice lecturers ):

I have a couple of nice lecturers, but they're pretty much cancelled out by the mean ones lol.
I remember once, we were in an Approaches to Communication tutorial, and it was the day of one of the FOB (I think...? may have been a different band but I'll go with FOB) concerts, and a couple of people were leaving like 10 minutes early so they could get the bus to the station, and the lecturer asked them where they were going, so they told him, and then he started yelling at the class about how he has to work 9-5 everyday so that we can get our degrees, and maybe he'd like time off to go see FOB.
We were all trying so hard not to laugh, he was so angry, but it was really funny xD
