Alright, any real MCR fan knows all about Bob getting burned during the making of "Famous Last Words"; the resulting infection resembled guacamole, spread to his head, and almost killed him. And yet on this tour, when they play the song in question, there's pyrotechnics going off right next to Bob the whole time. Does this worry anyone else, or am I just being paranoid?
Pyrotechnics is a field of study often thought synonymous with the manufacture of fireworks, but more accurately it has a wider scope that includes items for military and industrial uses.
Is the use of pyrotechnics onstage appropriate, safe, ...?

I'd like to start a pen-pal system with rock stars on long tours, like soldiers from Vietnam, just to make sure they know there's a girl waiting for them back home who cares... |

Also, evil_chibi4, you can edit your previous post if you have to add
something and this is a place where you can only talk about pyrotechnics onstage,
EVERYTHING ELSE IS CONSIDERED SPAM. |

I'm also pretty sure they went with different pyro techs for the show, and the flames aren't as bad as the video. I read it somewhere, but can't remember where, sorry. |

Yeah, I read that in Kerrang too. Gerard said the fire was way safer then when they were making famous last words. |

gerard says that the pyro on stage, during the tour, is completely controlled fire, whereas during the video for flw they just set the float alight and kind of hoped for the best. |

I was also quite concerned as Bob was behind all the flames and we couldn't see him for at least a minute. I do wonder if Gerard is secretly trying to knock off his band mates? |

I was very worried! That hall they chose was small, and so was the stage, Hall 4 would have been better really. |

Age: 44 Gender: Female Posts: 688 | March 30th, 2007 at 01:48pm The shower of sparks are pretty safe. They've fallen on me before, it's not something that will really catch fire to anything except paper maybe.
MCR doesn't use a lot of pyro. You wanna see real hardcore fire, you watch KISS perform. They basically blow up the freakin stage from every angle. You can feel it from forty rows back. Everything burns or spews fire, including their guitars.
They only time I've ever heard of a band actually getting hurt by stage pyro was Metallica's James Hetfield. He was drinking a lot back then and was confused about where to stand, so he inadvertently walked right into a flame pot. Luckily, he got to the hospital right away. I'm sure MCR will be fine, the fire isn't loose like it was on the video shoot. It is set to go off on specific places at specific times, so the band members are no where near the fire. |
