I've been to Palmerston North and although I cannot answer your question you have my deepest sympathies. Try Whitcoulls. What kind of magazines are you after? |

Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 15290 | November 16th, 2007 at 10:06am Okay, so, I'm doing a speech for English about "Being Australian"
and I chose the topic: Australian's have a unique attitude...
one of the requirements is that I have to use a picture that supports my speech
I chose to use Max Dupain's "The Sun Baker"
which looks like this :
the question is; is this picture appropriate for my arguement? |

I mean... it would depend entirely on what your argument is. Yes, it fits. But it all boils down to how you argue it. Anything in English, any topic, question, whatever, can be bent to suit whatever you want. If you phrase it right, then the picture will suit well.
If not, then oh well; back porn! |

Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 2281 | November 17th, 2007 at 06:02am What attitude is it exactly that you're talking about? Cause the picture will have to relate to what you're actually saying. So you'd need to tell us a little more about what you're saying, a synopsis if you will. |

It's due at the end of the term, but I'm only starting it now because I want it done properly and not at the last minute
I'll have more points as I go, but for now those are my main two |

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew the song in it? |

I suggest since you've got ages to spare, write up, or at least do a detailed plan of, your essay and pick a picture that suits it best. Does it have to be a famous one? I'd go for something brighter, perhaps family orientated. Y'know, like a bunch of people on the beach playing cricket. I wont say too much further, cause a - it's only what I'd do, might not be the angle you'd take, and b - if I do I'll end up virtually providing an essay layout for you, and that's your job. XD
The key is, if you look at it and have to wonder then it fits, then the doubt in the person's mind reading it will be tenfold. |

A packed beach always come to mind when I think of Aussies to be honest. Mainly because usually, if the beach isn't Bondi or something, it's not tourists, it's just genuine locals hitting the beach.
Everyone hits the beach in this country. XD |

Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 2281 | December 6th, 2007 at 02:37am Dear Fellow Melbournites. I wanted to ask, where could I get a copy of the first edition of Umbrella Academy from? I wanted to get it for a friend for Christmas, share the love and all that fun stuff - I went to Minotaur on Elizabeth Street today but they only have 2 & 3 left. Is there some store where I can get it or order it in from? When it comes to comic books stores I'm clueless, I just bought mine from Minotaur. |
