Okay, so this guy I work with today was saying how he thinks that My Chemical Romance is on the verge of starting to sound like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan. I was obviously a litle more than upset with his comment because we all know that MCR sounds and never will sound like any of those "boy band/wannabe punk" bands.
He also said that their second album sounds too different like, unoriginal or something like they didn't write some of the songs and I'm just like, whatever dude you're fuckin' retarded because MCR owns. Anyways...
I was just curious as to what you guys think about that. |

Its because some MCR songs are being known by the mainstream society, but they are still like the black sheep among Akon and all the other widely known rappers and pop bands.
Its bound to happen, although I dont agree at all. |

Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 596 | May 15th, 2007 at 10:00pm I guess he couldn't really think of any other bands to compare MCR to....And GC and SP are labeled "pop punk" and MCR is sometimes labeled that as well, so I guess I can kinda see why people would say that. But really, the guy should've kept his mouth shut because he obviously don't know a thing about MCR. |

Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 184 | May 16th, 2007 at 02:18am Yeah when he said that I just said, "Yeah the day that MCR sounds like either GC or SP will be the day I stop listening to them" because I know they don't and never will sound like those poser wannabe bands. |

Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 1406 | May 16th, 2007 at 03:05am I don't really get why SP and GC got termed "wannabe punk." It's more watered down rock, although I think GC is a bit higher on the chain than SP. Either way, MCR has always been an amazing band with lots of energy. They've been doing it for 6 years and are still going strong, I don't see any signs of them slowing down. Just because their sound is a bit different than when they first started, doesn't mean they will become anything like other bands. |

MCR have more of a rock feel to it with like so much energy...their music is much better than GC or SP...and they have more carisma and know how to write good lyrics and make good music.much better than the others..
