Gerard seems split on trying to convey the fears and anxieties surrounding teen violence and also trying to communicate how popular bands fear being mobbed by crazy fans. Those are two separate fears and they make for a confusing video. I understand both, but I can't really relate to being mobbed like I can relate to fearing a teenager with a gun in school. I like the video (because it's My Chem) but I think it could have been more successful at depicting teens feeling over-medicated, neglected, alone, ostracized, depressed and violent. I think that might have made more of an impact. Seeing the making of just increases the disconnectedness of the video for me. i totally agree. i really, really, hate the video but everyone else seems to love it. |
