OMG! You girls are cracking me up!

Once again the ever popular Tara sum-up:

I hate people who talk in the theater. Almost as much as I hate the blast of air that comes when the speakers are too loud. Am I the only one who is paranoid about someone flinging popcorn at them. Every little itch or lock of hair that moves, I think someone is flicking popcorn at me. And Tabitha, the whole phone thing cracks me up! Which reminds me, have you ever been to the Regal in Burlington? Every single time we go there, there is always a fight out side. We stopped going, we go to the Loews (or is it Leows? Maybe Lowes??) in Cherry Hill now.

Deb, I know exactly what you mean. The Ref is a friggin awesome movie. Funny, I keep telling people that and no one listens to me. Probably my favorite line is: "Your husband ain't dead lady... he's hiding!" But I think my all-time fave is National Lampoon's. I really liked Elf too... of and Surviving Christmas with my man Ben.

Has anyone here ever seen Grandma's Boy. That's another movie that I keep telling people is really funny but I just get blown off.

And all thru this ironically, I am eating a bowl of soup that I just heated up... weird.

This Space For Rent:

Ha ha -- we pretty much always went to Cherry Hill because we liked the mall there better. Slightly cleaner. Plus I think it was closer to the PX? Or am I getting myself mixed up from living in Mount Holly? Eh. Either way, I have been to them both, but mostly went to Cherry Hill.

This Space For Rent:

I LOVE SURVIVING CHRISTMAS! I'm just always a little afraid to admit it because it's due to my Affleck obsession, which I already take WAY too much shit for as it is. That hair. Those eyes. That forehead.

Hubby and I were joking around the other day about what my kids would look like if I had kids with Ben, since we both have relatively large foreheads. He decided I should make money off of them by selling advertising space, like little mini-billboards. So now we have the ongoing "advertiseonbabyafflecksforehead.com" joke between the two of us. Good times. Sick and twisted, but good times.

"You're not Santa. You don't smell like Santa. You smell like beef and cheese. YOU SIT ON A THRONE OF LIES!"

Plus, Will Ferrell in an elf costume. How does it get any better than that?

"Syrup in coffee?? Why didn't I think of that!"

Oh, and I would like to throw Bad Santa into the nominations for Best Christmas Movie as well. I mean, seriously, what says Christmas more than Billy Bob Thornton in a Santa costume, drunk off his ass, screaming at a kid the the mall food court?

I know that's a personal preference because it brings back memories of the "games" we used to play at Disney. They weren't very nice. But, when you spend your day getting crotch-slammed (when a kid that only comes up to your crotch runs into you as fast as they can, slamming their head into your nuts/uterus, in an attempt to "hug" you) you had to have *something* to keep you going.

So the running currently stands at:
Elf
The Ref
Love Actually
Bad Santa
Dawn of the Dead (I'm throwing that one in for Mikey and Gerard, I remember an interview with them where they mentioned that it was their favorite Christmas movie)

Did I miss any?

Oh, and Tara, the movie I tell everyone to watch but nobody does is Idiocracy. Seriously, it's eerie how close society is to being just like it is in that movie.

TABITHA!!!!
I was just talking about Idiocracy the other day!!!
I thought it was hilarious....
then again, right along there with Ben is my Luke obsession

And by Dawn of the Dead, do they mean the newer one with Sarah Polley and Ving Rhames or the one from the 60's? Cuz I liked the newer one better.
Oh, and Shaun of the Dead kicked butt
And 28 Days Later!
Have you seen Children of Men.. that one was also very good.

Elf is an awesome christmas film...I love Nightmare Before Christmas too....I may watch that tonight in fact Very Happy

Dawn of the Dead for best christmas film though....to be honest, I feel myself alarmingly tempted...

Muppet Christmas Carol is my Mum's favourite, and it's actually under the tree right now for her Smile

Anyone watch The Snowman when they were little? Man, I was obsessed with that film...and the song still makes me cry!

I can't bring myself to watch "The Snowman", it made me cry hysterically and not stop when I was a child. And I expect it will have the same effect now, Smile It takes pretty much nothing to make me cry... I cannot read "The Happy Prince" or "The Little Matchgirl" and I cry far too much everytime I watch The Lion King, huuge trauma. The Snowman distresses me, Hehe. Meh, what can you say i'm a crybaby.

Dawn of the Dead: I would assume, if the boys were talking about it, they meant the original George Romero version from the late 70s since the remake was in 2004, and wasn't Revenge the same year? They would have been watching Romero's version, not Snyder's, right? I like the original about as much as I can like a zombie movie, I guess (not a big fan, but can sit through the good ones) and I liked the vision behind the remake, but not sure if it really needed a remake. Eh. (But I'm way happy Snyder is doing Watchmen. He did 300 perfectly, so I know he'll do a great job.) And Shaun Of The Dead kicks massive ass. "You've got red on you."

By the way: George Romero is a big teddy bear. He's like this grandpa guy, all sweet and super-nice and friendly, until you remember what kind of movies he makes. And you're looking at this guy who you've been talking to about everything BUT zombies and you realize that he pretty much defines the whole genre. And he gives you that sweet smile that he has and you're like, where the hell does that crazy shit come from? You are way too sweet to have all that in your head. He is adorable and I love him to pieces.

Going back a few pages when Tara was talking about the idea behind Revenge, the 1000 bodies to get back his lover -- Do you watch Eureka? It's a Sci-Fi show about a town that houses all the greatest scientific minds in the world. I don't have cable and I just got to watching it on DVD (I also met Colin Ferguson, who stars in the show, and chatted with him for quite a while, about an hour or so, and in talking about things we like, he recommended the show. Go figure) and it really was good. Anyway the season finale for the first season dealt with something similar. I mean, it was a huge downer based on the rest of the series being relatively light-hearted and funny.

Anyway, one of the main players has a girlfriend who was killed in a lab accident and so he found a way to manipulate the space-time continuum to keep her from getting killed, but accidently created a paradox and an alternate universe which included the main character being married and his wife was pregnant. Well, as they found out what the guy had done, the main character had to go back in time to fix it and keep him from manipulating the continuum, but in doing so had to give up his life as it was, with his wife and baby and all these things going so well for him. And it reminded me of that conversation about whose life is more important, and is it truly love when you force others to suffer?

Moral of this post: Watch Eureka. It's a great show. But have some tissues handy at the season finale. And George Romero is adorable. And Shaun of the Dead is the best zombie movie ever made.

And "I like smiling! Smiling's my favorite!"
