I've been reading more and more into the news, and it seems that we've been getting more and more laws.
I also think that some of our freedoms are being taken away.

Hasn't fallen yet... but my dad says that the chinese will probably take over because they know so much about us and they can hack well and other stuff. =( And if that doesnt bring us down other aspects will. Studies of fallen civilizations tells of some falling because of too many different customs and religions mixed together that it just all falls apart. And america kinda is starting to fit that.

"I believe the world is burning to the ground, Oh well, I guess we're gonna find out. And I believe it all is coming to and end, Oh well, I guess we're gonna pretend..."

In a way I think it has fallen pretty far down the tube.

All countries have had their great leaders and bad leaders. During the Civil War, I'm sure some people thought America had fallen. Who knows what's going to happen in the future. I think far worse things have happened and we've pulled ourselves out of them. But who knows.

Well, you can't really say for certain...the thing about America's government is its flexibility. It is a living experiment after all, for all we know it could bounce back.

...providing that Bush doesn't go anywhere near politics for the rest of his life.

Don't hate me for saying this. It's just my opinion. But if you are open minded, here's the opinion of a South African dude on America...

you guys simply do what your government tells you. ur being brainwashed to believe you live in the best country of the world (expecially movies and television shows) and kept unaware of the rest of the world (honestly, how much DO you guys know bout what other countries think of you). That way your government gets you to fight in a stupid war, making you think it's right when it's obviously not.

I think America right now is about where Rome was in the 300s -- our society has become directionless, fragmented, our government ruled by the exact same people every time. Basically, I think we haven't quite fallen yet, but I think we will, soon-ish. We're right at the top of the downward slope. It's called decadence... But keep an eye on the artists. Decadence has a good reputation for fantastic art. Wink

im american, and i agree with you 100%.
actually, you should be surprised how many americans will come to you and say that the government is too corrupt, there are too many laws, this isn't the best country in the world, etc.
personally i can't stand america and plan on moving to england in the future. i am over Bush and his bullshit lies, and i am over the law. i am also over the way things are handled.
all in all i won't say that we have fallen, but we are not far from doing so. it will happen soon enough, in due time.

i think america is exactly what most people say, the beginning of the end. because of bush we have wars and now every single country can make there own nuke bombs. probably more than half of the rest of the world hates america. in my opinion when bush is over i will feel so much more safe. the polution is crazy in this country. when i see big trucks driving around it makes me mad because they don't care. i bet if they knew that they were the cause of america dying they still would do it. so basically i think america is falling. and i don't think that while bush is in office we can do anythnig to stop it . =[

pollution isn't bush's fault; pollution has been a problem ever since cars were invented. and in my eyes there isn't much that can be done for an issue like pollution.

Well, try looking at America with a cause-effect view.
Who did what to make America this way?
If American truly is a country run by it's people, then you'd have to blame the people, right?

But that's just the cause. What's the effect?

The effect is a country losing all its ethic. The average American teenager cares more about their hair and social status more than who's running their nation.
You have the poor and elderly getting screwed over daily.

What can the American public- America's people- do to fix it?

PERFECTLY SAID. With great power comes great responsibility and America's government does not have the responsibility to wield what we've created. Power and money corrupts and America has the most out of all the countries in the world. We are set up for a great fall.

The fact that we are seeing laws created and adapted is a good sign, it means we're changing with the times and keeping our laws flexible to reflect the ever shifting social perspective. I haven't experience any loss of freedoms, myself, so I'd be interested in what you think you're losing. The only things I see we're really losing is respect, diplomacy, compassion, focus and honesty.

i honestly think that we have fallen but its not to late to come back up, as long as we get a decent leader this time around, then i think that we'll do much better.

Hello fellow INO members, I have read your replies to my topic, very interesting, for my opinion, I do not think that America has fallen. Reasons are because just because we are getting more and more laws, but i also do not have a reason or know one as a fact, but so far I'm in the state of thinking, since the fall can affect in any ways, I believe schools are doing a poor job in preventing teens from smoking in the restrooms, not teaching them enough of what they need..etc..

well think about it, people first came here to get away from their own unfair government, look how far we've come, and how much we've stepped back.

In Atlanta, Georiga, there is now a law that says if you were your pants to low, you could get arrested and fined, (i personally dont like when people where their pants really low) its kinda stupid. why are we focusing an small stuff like that?

health care, i could write a book about it so i'll just sum it up: if you're sick, you deserve help, bottom line. sick=help. there shouldnt be fine print on human life.

the war, does anyone REALLY know why we're there? the president said some b.s. about nuclear weapons, we havent found any, so why arent the troops home?

congress, alot of them make over 150 grand a year. they passed a bill saying that they got a raise. and what about the poor, the homeless? the schools? where's their money?

by the way, if i offended anyone, it wasnt my intention, so please, just respect my opinion as i respect yours. thanx
Bye

Everyone has to fall at some point, but I do agree.
I think that America will fall eventually, but I'm not phsychic so I can't say soon.
Some of our basic rights are being taken away, as Ghostgirl pointed out.
It'll fall sooner or later, and then this country will have to deal with it's huge ego being shot like that.
