Life Expectancy.

What Is it in your area, and what do you believe causes it to increase/decrease depending on area/state/country or even continent?

The Life expectancy where i live is around 80-86years old. and i believe it has increased over the years due to the acts of the local councils and even the ban of cigarettes.

Life expectancy; I don't look into it too much.
I mean, you could get run over tomorrow.
That's going to have nothing to do with the banning of cigarettes, etc.

I've heard that if you move the cities you live fast and then you die
I don't believe it
I'm not sure what will increase or decrease it

I don't really beleive it either, its just interesting and i want to learn more.

But, what if your near industrial things like electricity plants and those sort of things. It would surely decrease, shouldn't it?

to quote Ed Norton in Fight Club....

"On a long enough time line, everyone's survival rate drops to zero."

Bottom line is that with vaccines, medical intervention, a general knowledge of germs/bacteria/viruses and good diet; our life expectancy has increased. A bit more than 100 years ago, diarrhea was one of the top 5 killers... if not #1. Consider that we no longer wander around, mingling with animal predators. Our food is easier to get and thanks to proper refrigeration and handling (well, most of the time), healthier. We humans have manipulated nature in such a way that, unlike other animals, we care for each other and can recover from illnesses easier.

Unfortunate circumstances still occur, disease still happens and there are genetic factors that will not simply disappear. Sure throw us out in the middle of no where and we will probably end up as a meal for something else... but in our own communities, we thrive very well.

What really concerns me is our bad eyesight. It seems that long ago very few of us had bad eyesight. They ones with it never lived long enough to reproduce. But, with evolution and having other people watch our back, the ones with bad eyes have been able to survive and reproduce. Thus contributing their optical handicap to the rest of us. I suspect that in the next 2000 we may be completely blind. Ok, that was really a joke... but has anyone else noticed about our eyes?

Maybe, that would cause bad eyes sight or "Square eyes". And it may cause it to decrease, i might look into that.

Actually yes, it does. Maybe it causes people to mis-step and fall over or maybe even crash into somthing if driving.

well i think that it all depends, if you live in the city with more than twice the air polution than out in the country than that getting into your lungs, could shorten your life, same as cigarettes.
also if you eat alot of fast food, (like my brother used to) than yeha, shorter life, but still there is no way to calculate our exact time of death because you could die anywhere anytime, i guess thats why i dont really sweat it that much

Thinking about if fast food ect.. Decreases life exp.
If you eat fast food you get obease which could lead to heart falior and risk of death
If you smoke - thats putting tar in your lungs makeing breathing alot harder and then leads to death.
Drinking - Makes it hard to controll the reptillian part of your brain (controlls you when your under pressure) and can make you lash out and feel invincible.

I've been thinking about it too, well I'd say obviously if you do all of that(unhealthy things) for the rest of your life, then your life might be shorter...and thats just my view of it

The reasons for the difference between male and female life expectancy are not fully understood. While some scholars argue that women are biologically superior to men and thus live longer, others argue that men are employed in more hazardous occupations (factories, military service, etc). Plus, men generally drive, smoke and drink more than women - men are even more often murdered.
Now thats something...

We'll women baisicly do most of the hard work in the world. women are amazing.
and yes men do have most of the hazardus jobs, but men get dirtier then men, filthwise, and are more likely to get hurt because of the hazardus jobs, and woman like to stay clean and tidy. Hope that wasn't sexist. If so, i am sorry.
