Over the years, as a band gains fame, they tend to get a lot of fans who want to know more about the band members themselves. This is pretty natural, after all, trying to connect with the people who make the music you listen to is pretty understandable. But sometimes I myself and my friends are a bit creeped out when we hear that some fans want to sleep with band members or be their friend. It seems slightly strange to us, but to others it's only perfectly natural. So I'm asking, what's your opinion? Do you think MCR fans tend to be a bit too close? Or do you think it's only a fan's duty to learn more?

All discussion appreciated, and please keep it civil guys. Very Happy

SPOON-FED QUESTIONS:
1. Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close?
2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan?
3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band?
4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans?
5. How was your day? Was it fuzzy?

1. Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close?
yes they do with all the "sleep with me" stuff. Fans need to have some maturity. MCR are not that kind of band at all... they all are happy in their current relationships

2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan?
Well.. does watching every interview and knowing the word for word count?

3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band?
Maybe when you meet them a hug =D

4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans?
INDEED teenies only catch on to a band when it had become popular and only know the bare minimum of details about the band... usually only able to recognize the lead singer

5. How was your day? Was it fuzzy?
Meh.... i was playing bass all day... and now my fingers really hurt

1. Sure. But I think every band/artist has fans like that. It's just inevitable.
2. Oh,hell yeah. I want to bone each and every one of them. Sarcasm. Honestly, maybe to a point. I mean, I did join this site =\
3. I guess a hug. You can't really become friends with a band you met unless you work with them or something. But it'd be rad as hell.
4.Teenies are pretty much just horny little girls who could probably care less about the music. Obsessed fans are ones that do care about the music to a maybe irritating extent. But it's cool.
5. You bet. Thanks for asking.

1) I think some of them do. I think the rest are just apprecative of them and what they have done. I'd say it's a 50/50 mix.

2) The only thing I care about the boys personally is that they are okay, happy, and safe, because I care about them because they've given me something wonderful. Anything else they choose to do, that's up to them and none of my business, unless they choose to talk about it in an interview or something. I would never ask them a personal question (i.e. a question about their sex lives) nor would I want anyone else to, and I wouldn't want to know the answer to that question either.

3) I agree with the above. A hug or a high-five would be about it if I didn't know them personally. Anything else crosses the line on personal space. Technically so does a hug, but it's up to each person and where their comfort level is. I hug strangers all the time but my comfort level is pretty low (5 years in Disney entertainment -- my body isn't "mine" anymore) and there are a lot of kindred spirits out there if you know where to look. Others feel that a high-five or a wave is as close as they want to get, and that's okay. I don't think anyone should be upset that someone would not hug them. If some acknowledgment is made, be happy.

4) Most definitely. Teenies are the ones who scream at signings and appearances, and are only interested in the boys because they are "hot". Obsessed fans can focus on one member in particular or on the music.

5) I'm just starting my day, and I think I have a cold. My day will probably be "fuzzy" because I just popped a few cold tablets. Thanks for the thought, though. *kisses*

2) I guess so.. I can't go without their music for a day and interviews always make me feel warm. I also lurk in the picture threads. But strangely I think my obsession is a healthy one Razz

1: Yes I do think fans get too obsessive. To a point where they're convinvced they're gonna marry one of them, that's pretty stupid.

2: Yes, I am pretty obsessive.

3: I believe the limit's their personal life. Sure, we wanna know about it, but it really is none of our business. Also to meet them, I think a hug would be fine. Although I'd be over the moon with a high five.

4: I think there's a huge difference. There's teenies, who want to bang the bassist and marry the manager, who only like them because of their appearance and like the first note of "da black parades". Obsessed fans are ones who obsess over the music and it's purpose.

5: Yeah it's been way fuzzy. My grandad's funeral is on Thursday so I'm kinda bummed.

1.Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close?
Yes.They do. It's like everytime there is new info about MCR, we have to know and when they is info that they won't tell us, we have to find out. It's ridiculous really.

2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan?
Yes, I myself am very obsessed. I know tooo much.Everytime I go on the net, I look up stuff that is MCR related. You could ask me a one answer question about them or their music and I not only give you the answer, but go in depth. For example, you can ask "What is Gerard's biggest fear?, all I should say is needles, but I can tell you the history of why he's afraid of them.I'm like a walking MCR historian. I swear I've watched/listened/read most of the interviews they have done and I know a lot of stuff about them that isn't really necessary for a fan to know. The unique thing about me is that I tend to obsess over things and when something interests me, I have to know about it. That's like my hobby. I really don't have a life, to put it out their.

3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band?
Maybe meeting them at a concert, saying hi or thanks, asking for an autogragh and a quick hug or high five. If your lucky, hanging backstage and talking for an hour about music or whatever. Now wanting to be their friend I think is not that weird. I'd love to be friends with MCR and I have my reasons. Knowing that they were not that popular in hs and they were basically loners is something that I really can relate to. I've also grown to know the guys ( not by meeting but observing the personalities) so much that I've realized I actually care for these five individuals. It's like when I think about them, they bring happiness.I feel like they are my friends. I personally have difficulty making friends because I'm extremely shy and It's hard for me to talk to people because I feel like I don't belong. But I always think that if I were to meet MCR, it wouldn't be hard for me to talk to them because I know they will accept.I hope this makes sense.

4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans?
Yes, there is a difference. Like most people have said, teenies are the people who like MCR because they are what I call the "new fad band" and only like them for there looks (Gerard) and a few popular songs like Helena, WTTBP, Teenagers.Obsessesed fans on the other hand love MCR because of the messages they bring, their enjoyable songs, the unique members, their unique sound, the talent and all of the things that make MCR special.

5. How was your day? Was it fuzzy?

Well, I've been out of school for about 2 weeks because I broke my ankle and also got surgery on it and it's been another boring day at home. I'm also going through a hard time right now, but all I can do is count on the lord to heal me. (Yes, I'm a Jesus Freak and I'm not ashamed)

1. Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close?
Yes, I do. But theres a kind of fun type and stalkerish. Some people think that once one of the band members lay their eyes on them the band will fall in love with them and they will get married, have babies, have a happily ever after etc.
Then there are other fans who just know details about them and follow their movements in which towns they are in. I think thats okay, there will always be some fans like that with every band.

2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan?
Yes, I am.
But I respect privacy and the bands need for discretion. I don't want them to fall in love with me, because to be frank it just creeps the shit out of me. They are my heroes, not my crushes.

3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band?
Yes.
Wanting to be friends and/or hang out with the band is not weird at all. Wanting to marry members of the band who are already married to someone else is just crossing the line. It's like, please, give them some privacy.

4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans?
Yes, a clear difference.
Teenies think the band members are hot and want to marry them (Although the band members themselves may already be married) , while obsessed fans like the band and its music, not wanting to get into a relationship with the members.

5. How was your day? Was it fuzzy?

1. Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close?
I think all bands will have that area of the fandom, MCR included. I think some fans can get a little 'Over excited' but that it is relatively harmless until it gets to the Stalker/ Eat, Breathe, Sleep the Band, stage. I think when you end up almost 'Living for' a band, and people you have never met it is getting a little serious. (But I can be close to that 'EBS' stage sometimes)

2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan?
I am obsessed with the music, I listen to it everyday because it makes my day a little better. I think that's fairly obsessive. But i'm not so obsessed with the actual band, my limit is laughing at interviews and swooning over the occasional picture. I would love to meet the band at some point, but I am in no way counting on it. Although I would not particular care to meet any other band at all, So Meh... draw your own conclusions. Smile

3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band? I think the limit is where your quality of life, or the bands is compromised in a any way by your actions. But everything has give and take. I also think that in the moment, anyone is capable of over stepping those limits. It's not the best part of humanity, but it is a part nontheless.

4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans?
Yes. I always thought, or was led to believe that 'Teenies' knew next to nothing about the band. They were the fans that only know a couple of songs (Usually the singles) and could probobly only name the lead singer. Obsessed fans know too much on the other end of the spectrum. Although a Teenie could behave obsessively I suppose.

5. How was your day? Was it fuzzy?
I like the term fuzzy so i'll say yes. Smile Work was fun, I got lots of made cards from children which is always sweet. *smile* I hope your day was fuzzy also.

Before I start answering the questions, I would like to ask: What's wrong with wanting to be their (the boys in MCR) friend? Why would that be creepy?
If anything, it shows how human fans still are.
They don't want to jump their bones...they just want to be their friends.
And, it shows the band how human the fans are as well as them.
In wanting to just be their friend, we don't see them as, like, something we can own or some sort of gods...but, as human beings wanting friendship.
The want for companionship (as in company and friends) is one of the basic instincts for humans.
Sometimes, feeling like a normal person can make your day.

1. Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close?

Hmm...Yes, some do. I think it's like that for ALL artists, not just musicians either. It happens. I don't think anything's wrong with it unless it becomes harmful to themselves and others. Or, it takes away from them living their life. People get attatched to anything that they can relate to. It's extremely easy for people (well, I know it is for me) to relate to MCR, so they kind of form this bond-like relationship to them.

2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan?

haha! Yes (well, with my definition of the word). Everytime I see something MCR I'm like, "Must have!!" I soak up everything that they say and commit it to memory. I try to unravel and learn about this band as much as I possibly can. Every opportunity that I can get, I go to see their shows. And, I'm a frequent poster here on INO and MCRmy and such. So, yeah, I consider myself obsessed. Some people get the term "obsessed" mixed up with the term "stalking/stalker". It is possible to be obsessed with something, without stalking it. I would never stalk the guys in MCR. I respevt their personal space and I see them as normal human beings (that just happen to also be my heroes). But, I'm more obsessed with their music and what they've accomplished more than the boys themselves (like looks and such).

3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band?

I think the limit is like, talking or hanging out...you know, like friends or normal people. Nothing sexual or creepy. Just talking and laughing. I try to think that fans have the respect to not make a fool of themselves by saying stuff like, "ZOMG! I want your babehs!!!" And, I try to think that the boys, in return, would be respectful enough to actually say hi and maybe conversate with fans. I mean, they don't owe the fans anything, but to be treated like normal human beings to each other.

4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans?

I would never ever say anything about wanting to have their babies, marrying them, dating them, or having sex with them. That's just disgraceful to the fans as well as the band members. I get so embarrassed when people do that. "Teenies" are said to be the ones who "want to have their babies" and they only like the singles and how the guys look. At least the obsessed fans actually like all of their music and respect them as people and not just a piece of ass.

5. How was your day? Was it fuzzy?

I don't know how a day could be fuzzy...but it sounds gross.

1. Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close?

Yes, sadly, I do. I realize that the band has become less accessible this year and that during the Bullets/early Revenge era, fans felt a bit closer to them, however, this does NOT give any fan the right to call up Frank's grandparents in the middle of the night, aim tele-lenses at the Ways' house, or jump on Ray's back in the airport, just to cite a few examples of inappropriate fan behavior.

2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan?

Well, of COURSE! LOL However, to me, that simply means that I'm heavy into their music and follow their interviews very closely, and love to discuss them with others.

3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band?

If you're following them around when they're not even playing a show, you've gone too far. If you've posted threatening comments about any of their family members, you've crossed the line. If you're trying to scrounge up their personal info for your own private use without their permission, you need to step off. Stuff like that.

4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans?

Sure there's a difference! Teenies are fairweather friends and they also grow out of band phases. They tend to prefer fawning over pictures in teenzines to learning actual songs. They tend to shriek "OMG Frank I want your babies!" in his face when he's being nice and signing autographs for you <cringes.>

5. How was your day? Was it fuzzy?

My entire week has been decidedly unfuzzy, and I am very upset about this. Someone stole my fuzzy!

1. Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close?
-oh, heck yes. not many, though. and it's not necessarily a bad thing unless you start making myspaces and fake messages/comments to show that you ""
know the band. *coughcough*

2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan?
-does squealing in the middle of Kroger because you saw someone with an MCR hoodie on count? Very Happy

3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band?
-mmh...idk...hunting down Gerard's license and posting it all over the web? lol
i think hugs are fine, but kisses on the cheek are pushing the limit quiet a bit.

4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans?
-oh, definitely. obsessed fans care about the band but not in a creepy way. well....slightly creepy, but meh. teenies aggravate everyone by thinking that "Gerrald Wade and Fred Leroy and Rob Toto are the ones that are triplets or whatever, right?"

5. How was your day? Was it fuzzy?
-about as fuzzy as a cactus. feeling invisible at school day in and day out is tempting me to skip so badly...and ive never skipped before.
thank you for asking, though Very Happy

1. mcr fans are some of the most obssessive/aggressive (lol) that i've ever encountered.
2. i do believe i'm borderline obssessed with their music, but not them themselves.
3. wanting to meet your idol is one thing... wanting to sleep with your idol on the other hand is just scary
4. i reckon obssessed fans would be the ones who actually know shit about the band, like their history and what not, and are obssessed because they truly give a shit, where as teenies are the ones who only know WTTBP and scream out shit like "fuck me gerard" at their concerts. they like them because they are the new "cool" and because they just happen to be attractive .
5. my day has been plenty fuzzy, thanks for asking. yourself?

1.
Well. Maybe?
2.
I don't think I'm too obsessive, for what it's worth.
3.
It's okay to dream about singing duet with Gerard or playing live on same stage as Ray or such things, but in my point of view dreaming about dating a band member.. Well okay, maybe it's alright, as long as you don't get totally obsessed with those dreams.
4.
There is. Mean, I'm not a "teenie" but a bit obsessed. I talk about the band a lot and I think people do sometimes think that I actually am a "teenie". The difference between obsessed and "teenie" fans is music.

1. Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close?
Yes, they do. It's okay, as long as they don't stalk the band members or claim they know them.

2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan?
....Yes, I guess. I don't want to sleep with them or anything, but I know the lyrics to their songs, and seen a lot of interviews. I'm pretty obsessive, because I buy a magazine with MCR in it, even if it's just a small article or a small picture.

3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band?
Well, there is defintely a limit. I mean, I don't think anyone should grab Gerard's package while he is singing. Tehe

4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans?
There is. Obsessed fans can know more than the singles, and more than one CD. Obsessed fans care about the music, and that's what really counts.

SPOON-FED QUESTIONS:
1. Do you think MCR fans get obsessive/close? Well.. some Yes overly so, give them space and privacy!

2. Are you yourself an obsessive fan? I love MCR but obsessive to what extent? I get excited when their in a magazine or on tv and I'll watch it, I love their music and lyrics and the people they appear to be but If I saw them I would not rip their clothes off, scream their names like mad or ask them personal questions and defiantly not ask them to fuck me Surprised

3. What do you consider the limit on closeness between fans and band? Being excited for them is great but there is a line when you take private photos of them, or their personal items ask them questions you should or touch them in any way without asking is beyond passing that line!

4. Do you think there's a difference between so-called "teenies" and obsessed fans? Yes definatly, obsessed know about them their history their songs and the lyrics plus the meanings. They know what the band has gone through to get where they are and what they are about. Teenies like a few songs and may know the words but don't care about the meanings, find some songs etc. Gerard "weird" and are the idiots you will find screaming OMG OMG AHHH 'band member name here'

5. How was your day? Was it fuzzy? It was somewhat crappy.. for too many reasons starting to deal with depression again. Crying or Very sad

hey guys, thanks for all the replies so far, it's so great to read other people's thoughts and opinions on this matter. so far we've been getting a lot of great answers.

p.s. fuzzy is just a word i use to describe a great day. my day itself wasn't fuzzy, but this thread cheered me up.
