Oh me gods, best thread ever. I've got to go with most of Mr Toro's fabulous solos. Gah! My favourites are Dead!, Thankyou For The Venom and Famous Last Words. The guitar solo's in those songs make me head spin, although I don't know which one would be my favourite!

Edit: OH! And Ray's solo in I'm Not Okay... Particularly when led in by Gerard randomly saying "Guitar..." Swoon!

Ray's solos rock. Headfirst for Halos and Dead! are at the top of my list. Also, the harmonics at the beginning of Desert Song are cool. And the intro to Disenchanted is pretty. I could go on and on.

My brother's learning how to play the guitar and my mom's teaching him and well he's damn good for a beginner and I keep begging him to play it for me...and he wont v_v so I emailed the notes to my mom ^_^

did you know you can hear Ray squeak his chair in that song as he tries to get comfy playing acoustic?

I read about that, and I've listened to it about a 1000 times and I can't hear it! Sad

The part after "If I fall" on Ghost of You. Ray has a totally kick-ass guitar solo through there.

OMG I love that part too!
And for some weird reason in the live versions of Helena, whenever I hear Ray's guitar come in I get the chills!!!

Toro's solos are awesome. They're what keep MCR from being more than a generic pop/punk band.
Otherwise...
I hate to say it, but compared to most bands from the past, the instrumentals in MCR aren't special at all. Bob, Frank and Mikey are all good at their instruments, but not spectacular. It's Gerard's voice and Ray's guitar that own this band.

Ray has good solos, but before you say they're the best ever check out a Slash, Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page solo.

I absolutely love the instrumental part at the beginning of Desert Song. It's so haunting. The piano in the background of Cancer is beautiful. I love the Dead! solo and the Thank you for the Venom intro too!

And not forgetting The Ghost of You instrumental too, after "If I fall"...beautiful.
