I am sick and tired off Gerard getting all the attention don't get me wrong I love him. But, I also love the rest of them just as much and we need to talk more about the band as a whole NOT just. Gerard. Frank. Mikey. Bob. and Ray.we need to talk about My Chemical Romance. I love them.notice I did not say an individual name. So thats why I don't do Gerardsavedmylife or mikeyrulestheworld etc. The WHOLE BAND

I agree.
But the thing is- Gerard has become the stereotypical frontman of the band- Doing most of the interviews, press calls, and talking to the audience at gigs.
I don't know whether this is the bands idea, or whether the promo dept. at Reprise has pushed this idea out- but Gerard is certainly the "Frontman" instead of the leadsinger.
He also calls MCR "My band" alot, and at one point made quite a big mistake in saying "My new single, Famous...".

^ But I've heard Frank say "My band" as well. I don't think G means it the way that you took it. As far as the FLW "mistake" - link please? Regarding addressing the audience from the stage, I mean...yeah that's gonna be every frontman. M. Shadows speaks up a lot in interviews even though Synyster Gates has a big fucking mouth LOL - sometimes the bandmates just have a penchant for allowing a certain person to do a lot of the speaking when they're around. As far as interviews go - they all get their fair share. I've seen every possible combination get press.

well, IMHO like it or not, the fronters of most rock bands are most likely to be in the spotlight a lot. it's just the nature of their position. And u could say in fact that Gee is almost a representative of the 'brand' of MCR - he's not the whole picture, but he's the part that most ppl are gonna see first. Think Rolling Stones, think Mick Jagger. Think Nirvana, think Kurt Cobain. Think Evanescence, think Amy Lee.

Frontmen & women are (usually) in their places for a good reason: they have outstanding charisma, they are articulate both on and offstage, and they project the image of the band or what it stands for. We shouldn't malign them for it and we certainly shouldnt bash people -- esp non-fans & average joes -- who happen to associate MCR with Gerard Way. Us fans know better because we ARE FANS. And those 'fans' that totally discount the rest of the band on account of thm not being as charismatic or 'hot' as gee are, well, Teenies. (with a capital T.)

I agree. The whole band is responsible for making this wonderful music, so when people are fans of MCR, they should be fans of MCR, not a specific member.

I get the impression from some that they see Gerard as a solo artist, who has a band for back up. I always make aure I see the band as a whole. Because, after all where would Gerard be without the people who make the pretty noises for him to sing along to? Mr. Green

I always correct my friends when they say I am a fan of Gerard Way's band.

Although I can see the point that the above poster was making about frontmen getting the most attention. I think that it is fine for the media to focus like that, after all it can be easier for them. But it gets a bit tiring when some fans do it.

The thing that annoys me is when during interviews, Gerard is almost the only one who talks, when it's the whole band.
Usually Frank and Ray will talk a little bit, Mikey might say something, and Bob hardly talks at all. Sad
But for most of it, it's just Gerard, Gerard, Gerard...
It kind of get's boring after a while... sometimes I just want to know what the others have to say...

(This is mainly just interviews with the WHOLE band though.)

Hmm. Well u can slam Gerard, but maybe it's the others being slightly less communicative. I mean i've watched dozens of interviews, there hv been many moments where they could hv added their bit, but they didn't, so the interviewer moved on. Bob is not the talkative type, we all know that. Mikey is sporadic - smtimes he chats more & smtimes he doesn't.

Again, this is a trend we see in other bands & not just MCR. And there r definitely worse attention whores out there than Gee. The most important thing is he's not a braggadacio, he's not like 'look at me i'm a sex symbol'. it just so happens he's the most chatty.

u also gotta take in2 consideration that a lot of the lyrics and concept for their albums stemmed largely from his ideas. pls dun misunderstand me -- i'm not saying the rest didnt contribute, quite the contrary -- but its more likely for him to speak out when asked certain questions like the direction & creativity of the band's music, etc, simply bcoz he had a big part in the creation.

(these r facts so don't throw stuff at me for saying it. but u're free to correct me on any errors.) Tomato

^^ no you are right, it's just something I don't like - in all bands, not just MCR.
I wasn't having a go at Gerard - sorry if it came across that way - I know he's the type of person who has alot to say - but sometimes I'm interested in what the other guy's have to say as well...

Yeah I don't think it would be fair to call Gerard an "attention whore" just because he does a lot of the talking. It always seems to me that the band defers to him when he's there, however, I have most certainly seen occasions where it's the other way around. There was the little tour of the bus that G and Ray did where Ray did ALL the talking; G didn't say one word. I've seen Frank and Bob cut him off at times, and I've seen G defer to whoever he's with at other times as well. It's not as uneven of a playing field as you would think.

Gerard doesn't mean to say this is 'my band,'. The whole band is what makes them a band and they're all tight.
Mostly, people would deirect their attentions towards the 'hottest' members
of the band and not care what they actually mean. That's what I hate. Gerard is the lead singer, yes, but Frank's guitar, Bob is drums and so on. What about them?
Anyways, they all know that the band doesn't really belong to one person. They say mistakes like that often. I doubt someone is going to kick Gerard's butt because of it...
