Gerard Way has a new feud on his hands -- Maverick comic book publisher Hart Fisher claims Gee has been cribbing his material for MCR's own works. Or, as Rolling Stone puts it, Fisher has been accusing Way of "Plundering Fisher’s words and ideologies for MCR’s music."
God, I love the word "plundering"! Will someone please use the word "pillage" in a sentence now? That would make my day complete.
ANYWAY. Fisher published Gerard's first-ever comic, On Raven's Wings, so he was none too pleased that Dark Horse claimed that the Umbrella Academy was Gee's first crack at comics. So now he's hot around the collar, insisting in his post that My Chem is “ripping off my old message and many of my actual written bits. I’m in the process now of going through the lyrics and matching up where he has straight up ripped me off from my old Boneyard editorials.”
It's on buzznet's main page now.
Heres his 'mentors' blog post:

Hmm, discuss?

Wow, a lot of animosity on the LJ. I'm not sure what to say...they didn't explain things very well.

It appears Fisher may be blowing this out of proportion since Gerard is NOT denying his previous work. And, apparently, he was only 16 when he wrote it! It's up on ebay right now: MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE - GERARD WAY on raven's wings RARE

Not at all.
But I think that Gerard has enough material to write his own stuff.
And lets face it, the Comic Book Industry is huge, there is sure to be a couple similar ideas...

i just posted this on the rumours thread, though it seems to belong here instead.

just back to the "hart v's gerard" comic book thing for a moment,
i found this in a really old magazine article.. era 2002
"so i hear you're a comic book artist, what have you done?"
-Little indie things here and there, and a bunch of toy designs that i still do for spiderman action figures and superheroes.
I did a page in DC comic's "Big Book of the Weird Wild West", and some "Footsoldiers" work for Image comics which was writen by my buddy Jim Krueger.
gerard is definitly not saying that the umbrella academy is his first published work. in fact, he did the opposite.
in reference to the fact that gerard ripped off his poetry and artwork,
where is the said poetry and artwork?
i believe hart is just stirring up shit full of lies.

Seems like this dude who's kicking up a fuss over what appears to be nothing, is just looking for attention or really is just a big drama queen.

*Has another giggle at Fireplug's ava*
If the guy was in it for the artistic credit and not to straight up piss people off he would have done it before now.

<giggles with LJ> Apparently this dude thrives on pissing people off - just look at the dude's video description on this installment of Sally Jesse Raphael
you know, this is probably just some guy who's jealous because he isn't getting famous off of all the hard work Gerard has put into everything. I think we should all just ignore him or else he's getting the attention he doesn't deserve.
Quick! Someone call the waaaaambulance. Someone took a page out of Marilyn Manson's book and decided to pick apart things to find ways Gerard "copied" him for publicity and attention.
He said it himself, his company or whatever is basically dead and not reaping the money he wants. There's no better way to bring it back than to call out a man who became more successful than him. Bitter ex-girlfriend, much?
EDIT: [Spamage] fireplug, voted you for Ava of the month.

That interview you mentioned was interesting for a number of reasons. Imagine if it were Gerard with the so called "interest in Asian women" instead of Ray.
A nagging question:
How come nobody in Things That Make You Go MMM mentioned that Gerard was called "Garry?" (If they did then I retract this. I've heeded everyone else's advice not to see the movie.)

Pardon my French, but talk about coattail riding.
Honestly. Does it not strike anyone else as odd that this guy decides to come out of the woodwork now, of all times? If Gerard had ripped off lyrics from him, what's a more opportune time to capitalize on it than when he's super successful in both music & comics? Boo-effing-hoo. That more than anything should tell us that it's probably not true.
PS...Garry?! Really, now.

Errr.
Things that make you go MMM is complete crap.
It isn't an official DVD for the band.
Ever watched Life on the Murder Scene? There's the real biography.
Maybe Gerard went by Garry when he was younger and when he grew up he decided to go by something more mature, you know? I can't blame him. If he didn't like his younger years, why not change his name?
I'd do the same thing... only my name doesn't really work well.

Yes, that was how I got into MCR. I got it from the library by mistake, watched it, and fell in love. [spam]
