Searched it and didn't find anything, if there's already a topic on this, lock it.

It just popped up on Deviantart, it's a bill that's
going to legalize the theft of any uncopyrighted work created
in the last 34 years and in the future, a work without copyrights, Orphaned
Work. I think it's just about the most ridiculous things in the world, it jeopardizes drawings, paintings, sculptures, videos and even songs if they don't have a copyright on them. Technically, when you create something, you automatically own the copyright, but this bill will take away the rights to that, and even if you submit your work to a registry, there's no guarantee that it won't be stolen and used to the benefit of the persons/company taking it.

This means they can legally take it without the creator's consent and be used in any way they'd like, without the artist seeing a single penny.

This is the original journal I read on the matter;

If you haven't already heard, get yourself in the know NOW!

This will legalize the THEFT of art...

There is a new bill that will be passed if we don't get the word out and take action to stop it. This bill will allow any publicly viewed art, via net, or elsewhere to be used in any fashion by whomever chooses to take it for their own profit or otherwise.

The bill is called ORPHAN WORKS, below are links to give you more information to take action.

PLEASE PLEASE, spread the word to EVERYONE so the rights/copyrights of our art are kept our own. This could disrupt or even be the downfall of artist's careers, as well as other businesses involved. This could mean you, YOUR ART, your career could be disrupted, taken by anyone without consequence. For artists that are just starting out this will be drastic. They need to be putting their work out there to get seen, get recognized for their talent/skill to enable them to begin their career. These artists need their rights. ALL artists need their rights.

This is SERIOUS and could affect YOU! Spread the word NOW, take ACTION!
