'"MCR saved my life," see, that's the real point of all this." - Gerard Way

The Daily Mail has repeatedly attacked MCR, going back years. You can see the articles in the links section. They recently posted an article accusing the band of being a 'suicide cult'.

Enough is enough, these boys have worked so hard to keep us out of harm and away from suicide, it's time we bounced back. We need to stand up and let the world know that MCR is a positive band with a positive message.

This is where you guys come in. We are organizing a peaceful protest outside the Daily Mail's London HQ. We want to show them that we aren't a cult but an army. Obviously, we need people for a protest so, if you can get there, please come and join us. Show the world and our boys what we're made of and that we won't take any garbage.

The peaceful protest starts at Hyde Park at 9:30am. We'll meet there and then at 10am, make our way to the Daily Mail's HQ nearby in Derry Street. The protest will take place on Saturday, May 31st 2008.

This protest is attracting alot of attention, So I decided to start a thread to see if anyone from here was actually attending?

All the information supplied came from, http://www.whatthefrank.co.uk/

Also, the articles that accompany the post and have cause the controversy, can be found here.

This seems like a great idea, I thank you alot for sharing.
Though, I believe this is not the place for it to be.
This should be moved into 'Band News'.

This peaceful protest sounds good but I wonder how the Daily Mail will react to it?

There is already a topic about it here here.
But it has been locked.

Reason: The thread incites hate against a particular band/person etc.

I'm going. I already added my name to the list and such.
The Daily Mail however, cant really do much but listen to us. We have a right to stand up for what we believe in just like any other person(s).

I would be going, but I live in a different country. Sad
Just something I thought of... if you are going to make people believe that MCR has nothing to do with the emo genre, a lot of MCR fans -some people here- do look emo, and it wouldn't be really plausible if a bunch of emo looking people went out to protest agianst MCR being associated with emo genre and the suicide of a girl... So if you do dress emo, maybe you could dress normal just for that occasion.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with emos, though, I just don't want to see 'A bunch of emo's protest' in the headlines.

I'm going!
and those figures look encouraging - there's 2 weeks left to spread the news and promote it, so it could be much bigger than expected.

I was thinking the same thing, but in the same breath. Doesn't this kind of go against what the protest is about?.
I'm unsure to be totally honest. Everyone has a complete reason to be doing this. But there is alot of ways this could kick us all in the ass.
Anyone else agree?x

^ We have asked everyone to dress normally. Don't dress incredibly 'emo' purposefully to take the piss outta Daily Mail. We want to show that we are sensible, mature people.
