So, yes, this does fit within another topic, but I figure we have room to expand here, and this would be useful, as well as one for the other programs.

This is JUST for Photoshop, for discussing problems, Photoshop tutorials, where something is in the program, how it compares to other programs, just anything Photoshop specific.

I'm sorry if this is too much of a duplicate and needs to be locked, don't want to be trouble. ><

Anyhow, I have two things to say to start it off:

one is that since I have a registered copy of PS, I have a help. I'm not sure if everyone does, I know that the tryout editions don't. and so I just wanted to ask, if you have a pirated copy, do you have the help section? (very very very handy)

and the other question is, for anyone else who uses the healing brush fairly often, do you have any idea how to deal with spaces near much dark/lighter areas? because every time I try it, that area leeches in and changes the average color, so I have to go and use the normal clone tool, and it kills the texture. anyone know a way around it?

oh, and actually I have a third -
anyone who uses vector stuff on CS3, d'you know if there's any way to use gradients when it's a shape layer? I figured out how to take it out of shape layer mode, but it'd really be better if I could keep it as a shape layer and still use gradients. prolly not, it's a stupid question, but I might as well ask.

Yup, I have the help section in my pir ated copy Unsure
But I also got a serial code when I got it though, I don't know if all copies come with it?

I'm not sure what you mean, but for healing in those situations, I just do it spot by spot instead of healing over a large area over one time, then clean up with a really low opacity airbrush as well as possible. But I'm not awfully good at photoshop yet XD

Oh, you good person, you.
The help section appears to be there, but when you actually go to use it, you get some error message.
My copy of PS also doesn't open PNGs...
Haha, whatever. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Aww. =(
well, if people have questions, I can copypaste the help entry here if you like. It's quite useful, strangely enough.

A help section? Useful?
BLASPHEMY, SIR.
Onlyiguessnotreally.

Also, as far as the gradient thing you were talking about, I dunno how to use one on the actual shape layer, but you can just make your shape and make a new layer on top of it, make a clipping mask and use the gradient on that layer. No clue if there's a way to actually do it on the same layer, but that's what I did.

Pssh, normally they really aren't.
But this one is. =]

But then that defeats the point, since the gradient isn't in vector format. D:
I know how to do it with a vector, you just hit the other setting so it just makes it a vector mask instead, and puts the color as a normal layer, and you can do gradients there. Just wanted to know if you could get it on that setting.

Thread for PS problems, eh? Well I have a big one.
On photoshop 7.0, the font is a thousand times too big to fit
into a picture no matter what "pt" it is set at. I could set it at size "0.1pt"
and it'd still be too big, it doesn't even change in the slightest. Is there any
way to reverse/fix that? Kind of urgent since I use PS for school.

If you drag the photo from an open browser, it should work when PNG format.
With mine, I open the PNG photo with microsoft photo editor rotate it to the left,
rotate it back to the original, resave it and I'm able to open it with PS. But for you, I'd
suggest uploading it (using tinypic, imageshack, etc), opening it in a browser then
dragging the photo to PS. (:

Haha, well, dragging stuff also doesn't work unless I'm dragging it onto a canvas I already have open. So, I just keep an image converter handy.
Like, if I get a big set of textures, I'll just throw them through the converter and open them as JPEGs. Sure, it might lessen the quality a little bit, but with textures, you can't really tell. x]
But I'll try the Microsoft picture manager thing. Because that sounds like it might actually work...

Oh, and I sometimes have that same problem with text, only instead of being way too big, it'll be way too small. I've no clue how to fix it though. Sorry.
It only happens to me once in a while though, and when it does, it usually fixes itself soon-ish. "/

Sorry I'm not much help. >.<

I've seen that happen, but never when you get to 0pt, so I can't help you. x___________x
but I think the weird text stuff is from when you've been working on something a very different size, and it's "thinking" in a bigger size?
that's only a guess though.

okay here is a screen-cap of what is going on.
Look at how far it's zoomed out (19.44%) and the size of the font (606pt)
There's like...a huge space above the text. Any ideas how to get rid of that?

And no, don't suggest moving the end of the box up. It doesn't do anything. xD
It's like pressing enter a hundred times and can't get rid of it. :/

Putting some of Gee's quotes would be a cool idea.
You might want to download some tons of fonts, like I do.
you could write it in this font I found once, it's called The Chemical Parade or something. It's the original MCR font, oryou can use their old font, it's called Mom's typewrites, I can send 'em to you if you want to.

This is so weird, it did happen to me once.
What I did is repairing my Photoshop from the control pannel/add remove programes.
I even had to re-download my photoshop.

You could browse through the tutorial category on Deviantart, I've found it quite useful. ^_____^

You can always record a macro and run it on a whole map.
