To any here that I have offended, I would like to apologise to you personally. It has never been my intention to offend any Members, and I have always tried to do the opposite. However, it appears that I have done so, and for that I sincerely apologise.

In regards to my recent thread "Borderline Censorship vs Moderation", I admit that I was wrong for posting it instead of PM'ing a Mod or Admin first. In my defence, all I can say is that it was posted on what was a very difficult day for me, one of the difficulties being the anniversary of my Dad's death, the other being rather more personal and inappropriate for this Forum.

The Moderator who locked one of my threads was NOT having a bad day ~ I think it was more of a case of ME having a bad day. I say that not as an excuse, but as a reason. In future, I will try not to post here when I am having one of 'those' days.

Again, my sincere apologies for any Members etc. that I have offended.

Don't avoid us when you're having a bad day - you can talk to anyone here about it. We're all awesome listeners and we all want to listen and help. ;]

I will leave this for a while.

Thank you for your response. I guess that, as an adult, it is hard for me to post here when I am having a difficult day, especially, when it comes to certain issues, such as grief, depression, healing from abusive relationships etc. I just don't feel that it is fair for me, an older adult, to burden the Members here who are much younger than myself. Hope that makes sense...........

Anyway, the original issue is resolved. and I will certainly endeavour to 'toe the line' here at INO.

Ill answer here aswell:

-As for the concern of the age of mods vs. maturity how can you judge without the facts or come to any kind of conclusion when some of our ages aren't publicly shown on the site.

I think I was the one making that age-comment? Not judging you or the moderation but rather reflecting on how hard it must be moderating a site like this.

Tallulah; Schechter:
I wasn't confrontational about my comment on the moderation, sorry if it came of like that. My emphasis should have been on "all humans" as opposed to a nameless faceless moderationstaff Smile

Cheers guys!

Tikva,

Welcome to INO, for starters. While the majority of the posters here are teens, there is a group of us here who are adults, quite a bit older than the average poster. Not that this is a bad thing, as one of the reasons that we are here is because of the maturity of the majority of the posters, and how amazed we are with how passionate some of these kids can be.

However, as Tallulah said before, there is a definite line. I know that Lulah and I both work with school-aged children, and as someone who does, I was a little worried about your original post (the female sexuality topic). While I am sure that it was not meant to be anything but informative, it raises some ethical issues when children are finding graphic sexual advice on a website posted by someone who is so much older than they are. To talk teen-to-teen or child-to-parent is one thing, and even I have been known to encourage the kids here to be safe if they choose to be sexually active, but we all know that there are people in the world that would take advantage of kids and take it further. Think of how a parent would feel if their underage daughter told them they found sex advice on an MCR message board. It casts a bad light on the site and could, by extension, cast a bad light on the band itself. The mods here have to be constantly on guard for any kind of content that could be considered inappropriate because they know that the main posters here are underage. This site has been hit by spammers, some of whom post graphic pornographic images, and links to pornographic sites, knowing that the majority of the people here are too young to be viewing those images. The mods have their hands full, and they do a great job. They just have to be sure that this site is as safe as possible for all who post here.

This is, first and foremost, a fansite, and a damn good one at that. I like that Lulah posted a link to a governmentally-moderated board for the teens here who do have those kinds of questions -- your intentions were good, but a fansite is not the best place for them to get sex advice or questions answered. While your last post here on this thread hints to some personal issues (issues that many of us share, please understand) I don't know that they are issues that are best discussed with the kids here, but I invite and encourage you to talk with or PM any of us older posters on the site, we are a tight-knit group, but have nothing but open arms to newcomers. I also don't know that having issues excuses anything -- everyone has their own issues, and are responsible for what they say despite those issues. Most people have slipped from time to time, and that's okay, the mods are here to remind us where we need to be, and they don't take any serious decision lightly, they consult amongst themselves and even with us from time to time to get our input as well. Just remember that what is said here represents a group of people who fight against labels of any kind. They want to have fun, make friends, and be in a safe place.

I hope that you do continue to post, however, and take time to look some of us "old ladies" on the board up. We'd love to speak with you.

Thanks for letting me put my two cents in.

Tabitha, thanks for your compliments on our board and our work. Sometimes it feels, like Lulah said once, as if some people think we are only here to annoy the heck out of them. ^^;

And I think that some of Tikva's issues have been shared by other people on this board younger than you think, some my age even.

Anyway, you said it better than anyone else. :]
