QuoteSam Leeson killed himself in his bedroom after suffering months of "sickening" abuse from cruel youngsters who bombarded his home page with offensive emails.
Sam's family have said that the 13 year old boy was bullied, using the social networking website Bebo.
It wasn't until after his death that the family discovered his webpage and found the harsh reality of the comments. It found other user's commenting on his ' alternative appearance' and calling him 'emo'.
In a recent statement, Sam's mum, Sally Cope spoke of her anger towards the site.
'I'm not sure what influence these sites have - but if they are a method of expressing things, maybe they should be checked more,' she spoke openly about her son's, 'utterly pointless death'.
'He was into his appearance and often wore his black skinny jeans. He was an alternative dresser and I think other teenagers did used to make comments about that.'
Since discovering Sam's fate, Bebo users who taunted him on the site have left messages apologising for their conduct.
Where the blame lies?
The Daily Mail, wrote that his interest in music, and 'emo' culture were partly to blame for his death. Claiming that Sam listened to, and was heavily influenced by, alternative rock bands such as the Foo Fighters and Slipknot, as well as so-called Emo music, championed by bands such My Chemical Romance, and Bullet For My Valentine.
This wouldn't be the first time The Daily Mail have made such comments regarding the 'emo' culture. They recently reported on the suicide of Hannah Bond, claiming that My Chemical Romance were to blame for her death. This sparked controversy with the fans and online communities, and evoking people to stand up for a band they believed saves lives.
After a peaceful protest, fans and followers showed that My Chemical Romance were not encouraging suicide, and were in fact saving lives.
With Sam, obviously bullied online and at school, The Daily Mail are still keen to blame the 'emo' culture and the bands in which he followed.
Surely, the bands aren't to blame again this time?

Not even a peaceful protest can stop them from trying to turn people against My Chemical Romance.
People are saying they are tired of hearing about this, but it's still here, and it's like the daily mail just won't. give. up.
Don't they have anyone else's life to to make miserable? |

Thankfully though they had the sense to blame it on the bullies.
How much of a coward do you have to be to bully someone on the internet?!
Poor kid, that was an awful story to read, it really upset me. |

Ok, at first it was funny (the ignorance of some people, not the deaths), then it became serious, with people actually believing it. They're going too far now. They need to stop. They're articles are more likely to kill people than the music! (My meaning there being that parents will believe it and stop their kids listening to the music that is very possibly keeping them alive) |

Age: 28 Gender: Female Posts: 863 | June 14th, 2008 at 11:42pm first of all, why hang yourself? its a horrible way to die, in my opinion. you either have a quick death from your neck snapping, or a slow one from suffocating. but I guess it more easy to find something to hang yourself with. (wow, I probably sound mean, sorry if i do.)
oh of course, the bullies aren't to blame, blame him for being emo, and listening to emo music, eh? I'm being sarcastic, of course. I think daily mail is more to blame, influencing people AGAINST emo which causes bullies. hm..
I probably make no sense at all, haha.
poor boy. RIP. ):
