I dreamt of you again while waking
Your haunting eyes shining upon me
Into your arms I fall
Would that I could never leave again
The business of my day does little
To detract from the aching of my heart
Will this void ever be filled
Fear grips my soul
Might I leave this earth forever longing
For that which I can never have
Your voice in my mind carries me through
You whisper my name as the fever rises
My hand upon yours
Loving every little thing about you
From your self-conscious smile
To your sexy bravado
Your quiet genius
To your fallability
Cut of the same mold we are
But you cannot hear me
Crying out your name
Worlds away - do you feel me yet
Torturous yearning
For the other half of me
Taken away
An angel you are
And I bound to fall upon your feet
Even though you don't see me there
But a tear from you would rip me so
And your laugh is just like music
To die for you is not to die with you
Though I know no other way
Would such make you see?
Do you know that I am here
And that I remain in love with you?
Forever yours

How the seasons do change
Two blinks ago you were all mine
Looking at the world with new eyes
Innocence so pure it hurt to see the truth
A lifelong companion
Now shrouded in secrets
And bitterness
Fear and sorrow
I would remove them all
But you wouldn't allow it
And you must learn
Or you can't grow
Pulling away from me slow
How beautiful to see
Wings set to fly
Yet the tears on my cheek
Are wistful
Take care of him, World
He's all I've got

Promises and heartfelt assurances
The security of feeling part of a whole
Ripped away effortlessly
By another's intervention
How the tides do change
And here I am adrift
Yet again
The strength in my limbs
A fount from a barely leaking well
Fearing the last of my will
Abandoning me at a most inopportune time
The mirrors now covered
Not even four legs to hold me up
A song echoing through an empty chamber
Set to silent
While the noon grows ever shorter
Will your voice ever cease
To haunt my soul?
It's you and I but why?
Hollow lines and bitter scenes
I'll remember you when I'm gone.

The old beaten path
So worn down now and littered with leaves
That a newer traveler would be hard-pressed to even find it
Standing before the crossroads
Taking in the scenery
So much has changed, yet it's still familiar to me
As always, the decision of which direction to walk
Should seem so simple, yet plagues me agonizingly
Will this direction contain traps?
Will this one lead to shelter?
Am I capable of navigating even at this advanced stage?
Tears shed for the path I choose to leave behind
Fear gripping my heart for the one I now walk

Happy holidays ho ho ho
Bring on the sentimental shit
If you're alone, you feel even more so
Spending cash when you don't have it
Looking to spread the cheer
Amidst rich foods and alcohol
Used to be about reindeer
Now it's about who didn't call
This one doesn't do enough
That'd be the perfect son
This one always does too much
That'd be the ostracized one
30 year old issues
Tossed with turkey and stuffing
Someone always needs tissues
Someone else needs a cuffing
Directions and what to bring
Who can't sit with who
While tired souls with bones that sting
Their year won't bring anything new
Unrealistic movie dreams
And those who never understand
Death and illness behind the scenes
Coupla quarters in their hand
Lumps inside
Before you even get there
Wanting to hide
Wishing not to care
Happy fucking holidays
And don't forget your beloved
Remember those who have no place
Doorsteps from which to be shoved
Auld Lang Syne
And all that crap
You take mine
And I'll take a fucking nap.

What I wouldn't give
To take all your tears
And give you back
Your innocent years
To mend your heart
And heal your soul
To never let
Sorrow near at all
To cushion the blows
Before they can fall
To hold you up
So you can stand tall
I'd lay down my life
Just to see you smile
Even if just
For a little while
Remove stabbing thoughts
And make them my own
Surround you with love
So you don't feel alone
I'd do anything
Just to lighten your load
To help ease the anger
Before you explode
I do what I can
But it isn't enough
So I hold your hand
While you hang tough
Just know that I'm always
By your side
For as long as I can be
Along for the ride
