Age: 32 Gender: Male Posts: 1052 | January 5th, 2009 at 11:37pm Robert Johnson - our generation doesn't realize that without this single delta blues player, music wouldn't really exist. His story of selling his soul to the Devil at the cross of highway 61 and 49 in return for guitar skills, is the stuff of legend. Through only 29 recorded songs he changed the world.
Howlin' Wolf - Chicago bluesman who rarely gets much credit though he had a major influence on Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones
Buddy Miles - The durmmer for Jimi Hendrix's "Band Of Gypsys" also had bands called "the Buddy Miles Express" and "the Electric Flag" apsolutly unbelievable at the skins
Muddy Waters - Bridged Chicago and Delta blues. Easily the greatest slide guitar player of all time. Major influence on countless guitar players
Buddy Holly - The first real rock'n roll white guy who wrote his own songs. |

I have a lot, but 5 of mine are:
Slowdive
TAD
My Bloody Valentine
Sleeper
Bikini Kill I've heard of and listened to 4/5 of those, everything but Sleeper. Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine are in or around my top ten most played bands on last f.m. |

Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 12901 | January 16th, 2009 at 05:42pm Pretty much everything I listen to is well known within its own respective scene(s), so, yeah, I don't get too underground. Except for Halo Perfecto and Short Histories of Future Nations perhaps. |
