I smile,
As the lights brighten the room
And I watch the new day
Dawn upon my surroundings
Even if my eyes focus only
on that single spot
I know so well.
I smile,
As everything around me comes to life
The world, so animated,
I wish I could belong in,
The one I deny, in my mind,
I will never be a part of.
I smile
at all my companions,
dearest "friends",
whose faces I memorize
a variety of expressions,
one so different from the next
All have a story,
None, have I heard.
I smile,
at all the people who stop before me.
Staring in awe,
showering endless praise
that fall on deaf ears.
I watch their lips move to tell me
how beautiful I am.
How majestic.
How mesmerizing.
But I do not blush or frown,
at their unceasing flattery
Nor can I thank them for their kind words.
For I am mute to my admirers,
Receiving their love in silence
Because it is always better that way.
I smile,
as the day disappears,
And the moon I cannot gaze at,
appears in the night sky,
My audience trickles away
Fades into the nothingness
of an empty room
Only the ghostly memory of each afternoon
lingers, for a while.
Plunged in darkness,
The weight of a heavy heart,
so filled with loneliness,
anchors me to this gilded frame.
And as I wait for sleep
that will never come to me,
I smile. |

in you i have it all.
shoot through the day we're a comet in motion,
