I'll overdose on prescription pills myself. We get it, he died, it was sad, he was a great actor. Gaaahhhh. He'll probably win it, too. /rant. I hope Wall-E wins an award, that was a rad movie.

I just don't think the fact that he died changes his performance and therefore how much he deserves the award. I also want him to get it because he won't have any other chance and I think he does deserve it for something and if it wasn't this, it'd have been something in the future, but I don't see why his death makes him a better actor. if the awards start being given on sympathy or whatever, they'll become worthless.

Day Old Hate Thinking Happy Thoughts Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 423	January 23rd, 2009 at 04:14pm I hope The Wrestler/Mickey Rourke gets some awards, that film was amazing. And tbh, I don't think Heath Leadger or The Dark Knight would have been considered by the academy members if it wasn't for his death. I also don't think he should win, because his victory will be tainted by the whole "he won it because he's dead" thing... I'm not saying he was bad, or doesn't deserve the nomination, I just don't think he should win. Plus, I think other actors are more deserving of the award this year, when you take into consideration that Heath Ledger didn't get a lot of screen time in the film. And how insane is it that Robert Downey Jr. is nominated for Tropic Thunder?! Good on him!

But I still hope Heath wins in that category. And I'm SO happy Milk was nominated for Best Picture, I really hope it wins.

And, like I said, The Wrestler was a great film, I'm glad it's nominated Just thought I'd clear up, I'm glad that Heath has been nominated, and part of me is rooting for him, but I really don't want his victory to be just because he died... It should be for his acting, which was fantastic (albeit with the short screentime in a very convoluted film). And, ffs, give Kate an Oscar!!!
