That's actually arbitrary given the fact that it's particles are dissolved in the water.
So why it still is in a sense a solid, it's atoms have been pulled apart and mixed with the water molecules.
Thus in a sense it is a liquid. |

It's using math to unravel the mysteries of the universe, and it deals with the very small. Some of the basics:
Light and matter can exist as both particles and waves. (wave-particle duality)
Light comes in discrete amounts; that is, light comes in packets like money. You can't divide a penny in half. Same idea with light.
Particles have a probability of being anywhere at any point in time. Some places are just more probable than others.
You cannot know the momentum and the position of any particle at any one time. (uncertainty principle)
Quantum mechanics is all about probability. Nothing is definite, and there are massive quantum fluctuations, but on larger scales, like what you would see in everyday life, everything average out so you see nothing of the chaos at the smallest levels. |

So other cuttlefish males will actually disguise themselves as a female and go over to the female, while her mate thinks nothing of it.
Over half of all instances where this occured, the disguise was successful and of these, 2 known cases actually allowed the other male cuttlefish to fertilize the female. |
