My Chemical Romance

Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.
My Chemical Romance

You can read it here as well: My Chemical Romance Official Site.

Gerard also tweeted, "Beyond any sadness, what I feel the most is pride." This tweet was accompanied with a picture of the hanging man seen on the album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love and it can be viewed here: Gerard's tweet.

I am at a loss for words. I'm crying right now, and I'll have to come back later to post my thoughts. So long and goodnight, boys. Thanks for a beautiful 12 years.

Decided this will be a "tweets" post, with tweets from MCR, and reaction tweets... because it makes more sense than cluttering the original post with them, just in case people really don't care.

Click on the thumbnails and they'll open up in an imageshack window so you can read. Sorry, I couldn't think of any other way.

Yeah, it's really sad. I'm going to miss them. We're here for support if anyone needs it!!<3 I will always love them and I'm glad I got to see them when they came to NJ. Who knows, I feel like Gerard might not stop making music. Hopefully they'll give us an explanation.

I've posted this on the front page.
Sad times but I feel happy that they have finally done what THEY want rather than worrying about the fans. They're all grown up with families etc - it's time for them now.

So, so heartbroken. So weird that this came on my birthday (well, birthday is the 23rd, and I read the news around 3:00 AM). I never use twitter but I tweeted Frank saying, "2 words for the last 12 years: Thank you."

I am really happy that they seem happy to have ended when and where they did. But of course the small selfish part of me is hoping for a "So Long and Goodnight" farewell tour, and even more than that I really thought there would be one more official studio album (after Conventional Weapons) and that would be their ending with a bang.

Right now, all I want is an explanation. I will not blame them if they have come to this decision because they want to be with their families and pursue other careers. But, I will be honest about this, I am devastated. They have been such an important part of my life ever since I first heard them back in 2006. They have helped me cope with difficult times in my life that would've been so much harder to go through if it wasn't for their music. I am forever grateful but right now my heart is breaking.

Well, i was in no way expecting to wake up to this! Devastated, but excited to see what happens next.

It was 6 years to the day yesterday since my 15 year old self was allowed to go to her first my chem gig, I've lost track of how many times and cities I've seen them play since. I'm so lucky to have met them and will be forever thankful for their music and inspiration. It's been an amazing journey and I'm sad it's come to an end Sad but let's look forward to what's next for the guys.

Weren't they going to release another album this year? I can't remember where I heard it at but I thought it was a real source and a quote from one of the guys. I know that's pretty vague, but was just wondering if I was the only one who thought this.

They were; there was even videos with Gerard talking about it, calling it 'MCR5'...

Although, I suppose they were right all those years ago about the Conventional Weapons being the last things they'd ever release.

No Tara, I was thinking the same thing (I think it was in NME Frank talked about the new album).

Well at the end of the day they have to do what's best for them and their families. It must be incredibly hard to tour when your family is left at home for months on end. I'm surprised to find that I'm actually a little sad about it (I thought when this finally happened I'd not be all that fussed) but the very best of luck to them for the future Smile

^This.

I don't know about the other three, but now that MSI are back on tour it's gotta be hard on Gee and LynZ, too. They've had an incredible run, they're ending on a high, there's a lot of their music out there and we'll never forget them.

Anyone else think it's a cop out to only release ONE paragraph? Frank early wrote a novel explaining Conventional Weapons.

No farewell tour? No extended thought? No video? "Short and sweet is not always the answer."

RayGunToro:

Sometimes we just don't know why. It wasn't just a cop out. We can't just assume anything right now. And if they didn't want to make music anymore, why make a farewell tour. I know a lot of bands that just post it on facebook that they aren't going to make anymore music and that's it.
