When they broke up I responded with this on the WAYT:

whipstickagostop;:
i'm fine with them breaking up, if just a little sad.
they gave me nearly a decade of wonderful times, and i definitely wouldn't be who i am today had it not been for them.
i wouldn't have met you guys, for one thing.
they made middle school so much easier for me to get through, and i wouldn't have discovered mindless self indulgence or the birthday massacre without them.
so for them simply existing i'm thankful. i'm sure some of the guys will do other projects that people will love just as much.
i'm glad i got to see them live, i'm glad i got to meet some of the members.
i'm also glad i had moved on before this moment came as well which i suppose makes it all the more easier for me to deal with.
if the only thing i feel about this is "just a bit sad" then that's great.

and I think everything I said there still holds true to how I feel about it now.
They did change me for the better, I suppose, although it's kind of hard to say since I was so young when I first got into them.
I did lean on them through the hard times, though, when I was super into them.
But as I said in that post... I had moved on, I'm not really that into them anymore.
I still like them generally, but I'm not like... obsessive, if that makes sense.

Anyway.
When I was into them I was closer with my father and my mother I guess, it was our common ground.
Both my parents really loved them and were super supportive of both my and my sister's interest in them.
They were my favourite band from the time I was 12 to when I was 16, which was when I stopped caring.
I guess the biggest thing I've gotten from them was my friends on this site.
I honestly don't know where I'd be without the WAYT.

Here's a bit of my story.
MCR first came into my life 5 years ago, and it has been a very rough 5 years. They have brought me back from the brink of ending it all.

For me, I found MCR when I was about 10 or 11 and I was really into them until I was 15. I still cared about them then, but I wasn't as crazy about them as I used to be when they broke up. I was more thankful that they ever did exist, that they gave me music. I'm glad I wasn't so into them though, when they broke up, like Brandy said it was easier to stomach that way.

I'm super thankful that I found them and their music as it carried me through my earlier teenage years and for what they lead me to, the amazing community on this site & I held onto a lot of the strength I guess I found in their music, a lotof their stuff still makes me very emotional~

no spamming please, I'm sure if people will post they'll post.
but anyway
when I heard about mcr's breakup I wasn't so sad, sure I miss them, but around that time I guess I was just moving on to new music and more artists. I used to love MCR and I still do, but I'm glad they all have their own music now and are happy, I think that's what is mostly important. MCR taught me a lot and I'm forever grateful to them, because they really helped me when I was a teenager and going through things alone. And I'm really happy that at least I got to see them three times before they split up.

they have changed my life in so many ways, I don't think I could ever list it all.
