Well, I always thought it was about dealing with loved ones who were suicidal/had a drug addiction/ect.
Sister, I'm not much a poet, but a criminal
And you never had a chance
Love it, or leave it, you can't understand
A pretty face, but you do so carry on
And on,
And on

He's not just suffering from this, he feels responsible, He wantes her to live life or end it, because she can't see whats good, and carrying on is only bringing everyone pain.
I wouldn't front the scene if you paid me
I'm just the way that the doctor made me, on
And on
And on
And on
Love is the red of the rose on your coffin door
What's life like, bleeding on the floor,
the floor
the floor

He's not going to let this destroy him, she's just metaphorically bleeding on the floor.
You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe

Again, he's not going to follow her, he won't pretend it will, but he wants to think she'll be okay in the end.
So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
And make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will

Everything that he knows about how bad off she is, is making him depressed himself, even though he doesn't want it to. It's not going to be enough to make him follow her though, and she should just do it if that's what she wants so bad.
Preach all you want but who's gonna save me?
I keep a gun on the book you gave me, hallelujah, lock and load
Black is the kiss, the touch of the serpent son
It ain't the mark or the scar that makes you one
And one
And one
And one

I always saw this as like...a contradiction to the rest of the song, saying that everything is getting to him, I thought the book was a metaphor for the things she's told him.

I'm fairly certain I'm wrong, but just another view of the song, it's what I thought at first, and I always stick to that xD

For me, I think that there is someone that gets you so messed up "So gimme all your poison, and gimme all your pills...." then he expresses how miffed he is "You'll never make me leave, I'LL WEAR THIS ON MY SLEEVE..." or the guy who is the target of "Give me a reason to believe..." is lying to the other guy and he claims that he isn't stupid. And he gets so annoyed that he kills himself, or someone else "If this is what you want then fire at will..."

i think it might be about believing in something but you dont understand, and even though you dont understand "you do so carry on,
and on,
and on"
and you can do everything to try and stop them, "give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
And make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will"
but even though it might be slowing you down, then its because its what you want and stand for so you will do anything to make it carry on

^ I always thought it meant along the lines of someone you love who is like the living dead, not really living life, depressed.

Also in many tragedy plays, comic books etc a rose is dropped on someone after they die, ussually by murder such as in Daredevil. Give what nerds the guys of MCR are I always related to this. Roses can have many symbols, but jus due to the words before it leads me to the conclussion of romantic feelings, love etc. (obvious)

It's about Gerard being annoyed with people at his doorstep that try to make him convert to their religion.
