Okay, so,GIMP might not be as popular as Photoshop, but it's free, so I'm guessing it's fairly popular. Just like the Photoshop thread, this is to share techniques, tutorials textures, brushes, effects, etc. It operates exactly like the PS thread, except we're discussing GIMP instead. Go crazy. |

Okay, so, to attempt to keep this from spiraling down into nothingness, every couple of days I'll post a disscussion question. You can talk about things TOTALLY un-realated to the topic, like links, questions and stuff, but if you're stuck for things to say, you can do that. If you're confused, feel free to post here or PM me.
GIMP Discussion Question 1: Layers And Layer Settings.
In GIMP, you have the beautiful things called layers, and the beautiful layers have different settings. [Overlay, Addition, Hard Light, etc.] How often do you use them? What do you use them for? Which ones do you use the most? Go crazy, loves. =] |

I only got GIMP like a month ago, so I'm still just learning.
Someone here linked to this. And I've found this section especially helpful. |

But I just started using it about a month ago, as well.
I'd love to see some of you work. =] |

It looks interesting, but I can't tell what it is. Maybe that's the point.
Two other things, unrelated:
I think there should be a link to where GIMP can be downloaded.
I tried to download some plug-ins, but I can't figure out where to put the files to use them. |

About adding new brushes. There's a lot of information on that site. It's the user manual.
I'm not sure where I read this, but to make a brush that uses the foreground color, you need to change its mode to Grayscale. |
