Thats a good point actually. Killing them does nothing. it wont stop anything.
Thank you (:
I just don't see a point in the death penalty if there is no effect on society in general.

A good point until you realize that someone ELSE is taking that life from them, and making that choice. So, by that logic, does that not start a terrible chain of murder? I mean, those imposing that death sentence should also rightfully be killed, and then those who killed should be killed, and so forth.
That's what I think. It makes people look bad if they kill crimainals. Like it's wrong to kill someone, but it's okay if you're executing a criminal. Killing is killing no matter how you call it or whose life is going to end.

Your both right, and i honestly dont understand the death scentence :/
I mean, you could keep the criminal alive and as my mum says, torture them instead, but really, thats another crime ;/

We as a world have outdated it,it seems really medieval now to be honest.

I see the view thier coming from, take a life, they take yours.
But its a vicous cycle.

And to be honest,it wouldnt solve anything,if a person is sent to prison, why keep them there, and then kill them, its an easy way out for than person, they dont have to be in prison any longer.
You might as well just give them life.

I usually don't support the death sentence, but (I hope this post doesn't end up being too long xD) I sort of knew this little girl named Somer Thompson who lived really close by my neighborhood. Somer was about seven years old and really sweet, but only a few months ago she was killed. They found her body in a landfill around Georgia, I think, and she was missing a couple of limbs. And they just recently found the guy who killed her.

I kind of hoped he got the death sentence- I know it's kinda cruel, but he killed Somer and caused her family and the whole community so much grief. I got kind of caught up by the whole thing. The entire city was in so much distress and stuff, and I'd met Somer's mom and her sisters after her death, as well. I think if people get the death sentence, though, it wouldn't really discourage other people from killing. Some people are just unnaffected by the whole thing, y'know?

But seriously, I have no idea where I stand on the whole thing. I'm usually VERY against punishing people with death. But keeping them in jail and having normal people pay to keep them alive seems too merciful. I just don't really know. :/
