they ~kind of do a cover of Hey Jude, it's not very long though, only like one verse and the na na na's lol.
they also cover Highway To Hell, Satisfaction, and Suspicious Minds.

this was the setlist for the show i was at (i just found it online, but it looks pretty much right):
Song of the Century
21st Century Breakdown
Know Your Enemy
East Jesus Nowhere
Holiday
The Static Age
Murder City
Give Me Novacaine
Are We The Waiting
St. Jimmy
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Hitchin' A Ride
Dominated Love Slave
Welcome To Paradise
When I Come Around
Highway to Hell (AC/DC cover)
Satisfaction (The Rolling Stones cover)
Suspicious Minds (Elvis Presley cover)
Hey Jude (The Beatles cover)
Brain Stew
Jaded
Longview
Basket Case
She
King For A Day
Shout (Johnny O'Keefe cover)
21 Guns
Minority

American Idiot
Jesus of Suburbia

Last Night on Earth
Wake Me Up When September Ends
Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)

it was seriously amazing, right up there with Kings Of Leon tbh.
i pretty much died when they played When I Come Around <333

I kinda cheated and have been looking up the setlists since the first Aus show. I totally spoil shit for myself. I won't be surprised now.

Seems like they've dropped 2000 Lightyears, though?

I'm secretly glad we got DLS instead. I wish you had of, Sez.

It was so funny but. Cause BJ was all "How many old school Green Day fans do we have in the house tonight?" And the whole crowd screamed. Well, not the whole crowd. I didn't scream cause, lets face it, I'm the exact same age as the band - I'm not gonna pretend I was there from the start cause that's a tad impossible. It pisses me off when you've got 13-year-old fans pretending they're "old school". YOU WEREN'T EVEN ALIVE FOR HALF THE BAND'S EXISTENCE MORON.

.... anyway.

So BJ is all "There's something you should know about Tré..." blah blah, goes on about how he's this amazing singer/songwriter. At which point I tell Cam that if Tré's about to play the sing I think he is I would cry.

So he plays Dominated fucking Love Slave and I go mental. The majority of the crowd is dead silent. Fucking LOL. The girl behind me who'd screamed before was all "what song is this?"

TOOLS.

Then later, when BJ asked how many real old school fans there were, the whole crowd screamed louder. Um, you just proved you weren't, so STFU.

[/end rant]

melbourne green day was so freaken good!
im not that much of a fan of the band, i only knew a few old songs but it was oh so entertaining!
so much to take in and remember after wards aswell.
like how Billie Joe (if thats how you spell it :S) brought up two little kids on the stage, and those other two randoms came up and sang half a song each haha.
and he mooned the crowd and dressed up and stuff.
the rod laver arena is huge, so much better than adelaide venues.

there are some really strong 'rumours' that my chemical romance has dropped out of soundwave. i'm guessing this means no sideshow as well.
they're supposedly being replaced by jimmy eat world.

Hello Friends,

I got some good news and I got some bad news....while in the studio recently, Gerard started having some problems with his voice. At first we weren't too concerned about it and thought it would pass, as these things usually do, but the longer it went on the more worried we all got so he went to see the doctor. The good news is he's getting the best treatment possible and is going to make a full recovery, trust me we couldn't be more relieved. The bad news is it's not gonna go away overnight and we have to do what we hate doing most, cancel shows.

When we started this band all we ever wanted to do was write songs that meant something to us and play them live for as many people as we possibly could, and now in our old age all we want is exactly the same thing... and thats why canceling shows kills us so much, playing for people is what we live for. Your off-time applause, your beautiful dirty faces, your raw energy, and your wretched little voices singing our lyrics back to us fuel our fire, you make us feel alive, and we love every single one of you for that.

So know that as excited as you guys were to see us, we were even more excited to see you. But in order to make sure that we can continue to create music and play it live for all of you for a long time to come we need to give G the time he needs to heal.

We are incredibly sorry for bumming anyone out by canceling, and we hope you find it in your hearts to understand. We promise we will be back in Australia to make it up to you guys/gals as soon as possible. We miss you.

Until we meet again, xofrank

P.S. Please send all angry letters to:

Closure in Moscow has been removed from the Soundwave lineup, and @soundeavefest tweeted that a revised timetable would be posted. I can't find it, though.

Big Day Out 2011 line-up is one of the best in recent years.
Definitely going for Andrew W.K. (!!!), Iggy and The Stooges, Grinderman, Primal Scream and LCD Soundsystem.
Will also see M.I.A., Tool, Lupe Fiasco, The Black Keys, Crystal Castles and Ratatat.

Plus I guess Dizzee Rascal is a shoo-in for the 2012 line-up.
