Here is my own poetry. I'd like to start out with a poem I don't remember writing, posted on deviantART a year ago.

It's called "Against the Wind"

I walked a ways in my brown overcoat,
the rough polyester scratching my wind-whipped skin.
The sky blew leaves into my hair
and over my scuffed-up dress shoes my uncle used to wear
as I walked down the sidewalk,
staring into shop windows,
listening to the echoes of my footsteps in the parking garage as I walked by
my too-big shoes slapping the pavement.

The wind threatened to blow me away,
so I walked against it,
holding my crocheted hat to my head,
hoping it wouldn't blow off
because then I'd have to chase after it.

"52 colors"
Written in January 2010.

make your mark in the most childish way
not even coloring inside the lines
you think things are
lifeless, existence is pointless without your touch
isn't that right? you smile in the mirror
frown again, again
again there's a crack in the reflection
spreading
duct tape from the bin under your bed can fix that

the sound of sawed rubber as you strip off a piece
smack it onto the mirror
right on your eyes
you see no evil
you use this for what
what's needed fixing? everything's perfect

c l e a n

but minimalism was never your thing.
make everything BIGGER
dirtier and much more colorful
everything about you is color
the way you talk, the way dress
the places you go and the people you know
bright, neon-colored technicolor
like a 50's movie overlyembracing a new technology
fixed, right?
you got your fix. you taped it onto your own skin in replacement of band-aids
like a nicotine patch
just pretending you're getting better

nothing can be fixed, can it. the world, the people, society
it's all screwed, isn't. it. it's just one big hell, and you hate it, don't you.
you wear this tape like a veil
as if it can filter out the bad
because you see too much of it, don't you.
you think it can get better, don't you.
you say it's horrible, don't you.
is it?
or are all 52 colors working when it's all that you see?

I Don't Believe You/The Grudge Is Called My Name
written August 30, 2009
it is now a song, but the lyrics are a TAD different, and i re-ordered some of it.

why do i look at you?
it's too far to turn away
just turn away
"good day" anyway
because it's not true
i don't believe you

way to suction my routine
like a leech on my arm
stuck on my arm
suck on my arm
too dirty to be clean
no one has seen

i hate your essence
too many feelings
sick feelings
screw feelings
i avoid your presence
much less than intense

you stick to me like gum
whether you know it or not
i'm sick of your description
because clones are all the same
i can't see your motives
'cause the grudge is called my name
you stick to my mind like gum
and whether you're ready or not
here it comes

it's just another problem
taking my time
take my time
too much time
disctract me 'till i solve them
then ask me who i am

forget to sense the power
'cause my feel
not your feel
just one feel
will end in just an hour
no need to get sour

disjunction is my sickness
a small sip
only one sip
just a sip
you've got the tick-ness
stick to me like glue
forget you
get out of my head

you stick to me like gum
whether you know it or not
i'm sick of your description
because clones are all the same
i can't see your motives
'cause the grudge is called my name
you stick to my mind like gum
and whether you're ready or not
here it comes

Let it never change, let it never change us

my split skin, flaking,
hands tapping out a rhythm
we're all so familiar-
the nights, the following days
where your eyes seem to melt down your face
hours, speaking to yourself, knowing someone's there
trying to warm your skin, split skin, dry
and the clicks, like high heels on an expensive floor

powerful in a room full of people
