aye, that we do.
sometimes i get really annoyed that i play the violin, and not the guitar or drums because the only thing you can really play on a violin is classical-ish music, and it's so hard to find sheet music for other types of music, like rock. like, i think i've spent hours looking for sheet music of muse and mika songs before xD

Depends whether you want to continue. In general, be prepared to pay more as your standard goes up. I'd say look up local violin makers, rather than going for brands with classic violins- occasionally branded ones aren't as well made, where local ones are handmade and have had more attention paid to them. Also, I'd recommend getting a decent carbon fibre bow if you plan on continuing- they're expensive, but they're lighter and more comfortable to play with, in my opinion.

i definitely agree about the carbon fibre bow. it was expensive, but worth it. it makes even me sound half decent xD

Saame. Of course, it depends on who's playing, but some of the pieces you can get are beautiful. One of my personal favourites to play is 'Adoration' by Felix Borowski- if you like it, it's in the ABRSM grade 7 book, if you're english. You got any particular favourite peices? |

Omfg, I would LOVE to play Muse on violin! I usually learn to play by ear, but it is nice to have sheet music, too. |

My group used to do a pretty cool version of Hysteria from Muse. It's an arrangement by Jean-Luc Ponty, if you care to look it up it's pretty insane. |

Ever tried looking for Yellowcard or Blue October sheet music? They're both rock bands with a violin player. |
